PAC-07-A-113-A 02 SEP 07 (ASSIST) BETHEL CAP
Mission opened in response to a request from the Alaska State Troopers (AST) to search for an overdue person in the Tuntutuliak area. The 53 year old male's intent was to hunt and return home in the evening. When he did not return, a ground search party located his overturned boat but there were no signs of him in the area. The Bethel CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft however they were unable to locate the overdue person. Bethel AST search efforts located the overdue person’s clothing at the high tide line, so intensive search efforts resumed. Subsequently the AST released the CAP and required no further assistance. The Bethel CAP flew two sorties for 2.9 hours. One missing.
PAC-07-A-114-A 03 SEP 07 (ASSIST) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the AK State Troopers (AST) in Fairbanks (FAI) to search for two overdue hunters near Central. FAI CAP was tasked and responded with an aircraft and crew who searched for the overdue hunters but did not find them. The non-distress hunters subsequently called home to say their truck had been stuck, but they were safe and on their way home. FAI CAP flew one sortie for 3.7 hours. No credits awarded.
PAC-07-A-115-S 04 SEP 07 (SAR) VALDEZ CAP, 210 RQS, 211 RQS & 212 RQS
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of a PLB and associated ELT along Grayling Creek (25nm north of Valdez). Valdez (VDZ) CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft and which was unable to localize the source of the ELT signal due to poor weather and diminishing daylight. The 210, 211, and 212 RQS were tasked and responded with an HH-60, HC-130 and pararescuemen (pj's) which located a crashed aircraft belonging to the Alaska State Troopers (AST) in Palmer. Further coordination with AST determined that the uninjured pilot had been recovered earlier that day by AST, who failed to report the event to the FAA. VDZ CAP flew one sortie for 1.5 hours. The 210 RQS HH-60 with 212 RQS pj's onboard flew one sortie for 3.7 hours, and the 211 RQS HC-130 with 212 RQS pj's onboard flew one sortie for 2.7 hours. No credits awarded.
PAC-07-A-116-S 04 SEP 07 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Fairbanks (FAI) area. FAI CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team which located and silenced the non-distress ELT, in a parked aircraft at the Chena Marina Airstrip. The FAI CAP ground team searched for 1.5 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-07-A-117-A 05 SEP 07 (ASSIST) BETHEL CAP
Mission opened in response to a request from the Alaska State Troopers (AST) to search for five overdue (o/d) boaters in the Bethel (BET) area. The o/d boaters were in two boats fishing on the Kisarolik River and were due back to bet on 04 September. BET CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft. A Bethel AST boat search team located the o/d boaters, after they had spent the night due to extremely bad fog. The boaters self-recovered to Bethel. BET CAP flew one sortie for 0.6 hours. Five located.
PAC-07-A-118-S 05 SEP 07 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to reports of an overdue (o/d) aircraft between Wood River and Slana. Fairbanks CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, however the o/d aircraft was located non-distress by an Alaska State Trooper at the Kansas Creek Airstrip. Fairbanks CAP flew one sortie for 0.6 hours. No credits awarded.
PAC-07-A-123-A 08 SEP 07 (ASSIST) 210 RQS DET-1, 211 RQS, 212 RQS & FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the AK State Troopers (AST) in Delta to search for an overdue hunter near Porcupine Creek. The 210 RQS Det-1, 211 RQS, 212 RQS, and Fairbanks (FAI) CAP were tasked and responded with search aircraft, pararescuemen (pj’s) and aircrews who conducted an exhaustive search for the overdue but did not find him. The overdue hunter was subsequently located by a civilian aircraft and was recovered by AST in good condition. The 210 RQS Det-1 HH-60 with 212 RQS pj's on board flew two sorties for 10.4 hours. The 211 RQS HC-130 with 212 RQS pj's on board flew three sorties for 12.3 hours. FAI CAP flew two sorties for 5.4 hours. One assist awarded.
PAC-07-A-124-S 11 SEP 07 (SAR) KENAI CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT and airborne reports of an ELT near Tustumena Lake. The Kenai CAP (ENA CAP) was tasked and responded with an aircraft and crew which localized the ELT to Dan Franz Airstrip near Soldotna. They were able to contact people on the ground who secured the non-distress ELT in a derelict aircraft. The ENA CAP flew one sortie for 1.6 hours. No credits awarded.
PAC-07-A-125-S 12 SEP 07 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to aircraft and SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Anchorage (ANC) area. ANC CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team which located and secured the non-distress ELT in a parked aircraft at the Girdwood Airport. The ANC CAP ground team searched for 3.7 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-07-A-129-A 18 SEP 07 (ASSIST) JUNEAU CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from USCG D17 to search for a distressed vehicle near Wrangell Island. Juneau CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which extensively searched the entire area with negative results. USCG D17 suspended the search and released Juneau CAP from the mission. Juneau CAP flew three sorties for 5.4 hours. One missing.
PAC-07-A-130-S 18 SEP 07 (SAR) BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT at Elmendorf AFB. Birchwood (BCV) CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team which located and secured the non-distress ELT in a parked aircraft undergoing maintenance. The BCV CAP ground team searched for 0.7 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-07-A-131-A 20 SEP 07 (ASSIST) JUNEAU CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from USCG D17 to search for a distressed individual whose boat capsized near Juneau. Juneau CAP (JNU CAP) was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which searched the entire area with negative results. USCG D17 suspended search efforts, and released JNU CAP from the mission. JNU CAP flew one sortie for 1.9 hours. One missing.
PAC-07-A-136-S 23 SEP 07 (SAR) KENAI CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Beluga Lake area. Kenai CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft which located an overturned aircraft but could not find any occupants. Unbeknownst to the CAP aircraft or 11 RCC, the uninjured pilot had already coordinated his own recovery and was picked up by a friend. The Kenai CAP flew one sortie for 2.4 hours. One located.
PAC-07-A-137-S 27 SEP 07 (SAR) EIELSON CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT and Fairbanks tower hearing a stuck mic on 243.0 in the Fairbanks area. Eielson (EIL) CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft which was unable to localize the ELT. EIL range control was contacted and determined a range radio was malfunctioning and was reset. EIL CAP flew one sortie for 2.2 hours. No credits awarded.
PAC-07-A-138-S 30 SEP 07 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Fairbanks area. Fairbanks CAP (FAI CAP) was tasked and responded with a ground search team which located and silenced the non-distress ELT in a moored airplane at a private residence. The FAI CAP ground search team searched for 0.5 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.
