PAC-07-A-005-A 16 JAN 07 (ASSIST) BIRCHWOOD CAP, 210 RQS DET-1 & 212 RQS
Mission opened in response to an AK State Troopers (AST) request for assistance to search for two distressed snowmobilers near Eureka. The snowmobilers were missing after having called their family via cell phone and reporting that they were running out of fuel three miles from their vehicle. The 210 RQS Det-1 and 212 RQS were tasked and responded by diverting an HH-60 helicopter and pararescuemen (PJ's). Birchwood (BCV) CAP was also tasked and responded with a search aircraft. The snowmobilers were located by an AST helicopter which then recovered them and transported them to safety. The 210 RQS Det-1 HH-60 with 212 RQS PJ's onboard flew one sortie for 0.5 hours. BCV CAP flew one sortie for 1.5 hours. Two saves awarded.
PAC-07-A-008-S 21 JAN 07 (SAR) ELMENDORF CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Palmer area. Elmendorf (EDF) CAP was tasked and initially responded with a search aircraft which localized the signal to the Anchorage area. EDF CAP responded with an additional search aircraft and a ground team however they were unable to locate the source of the ELT which subsequently ceased transmissions. EDF CAP flew two sorties for 7.2 hours, and their ground team searched for 2.5 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.
