PAC-06-A-164-S 01 SEP 06 (SAR) KENAI CAP
Mission opened in response to aircraft and SARSAT reports of an ELT near Kenai (ENA). ENA CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft which localized the ELT to a residential area in Soldotna. An ENA CAP ground search team was then tasked which located the non-distress ELT in a survival vest, in a garage at a Soldotna residence, and secured it. ENA CAP flew one sortie for 1.3 hours, and their ground team searched for 2.5 hours claiming $40.00 for expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-06-A-165-S 01 SEP 06 (SAR) EIELSON CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near North Pole. Eielson (EIL) CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team which located the non-distress ELT in a garage at Wright Airstrip near North Pole, and secured it. The owner had taken the ELT out of his aircraft for maintenance. The EIL CAP ground team searched for 3.0 hours and claimed $11.06 for expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-06-A-166-S 02 SEP 06 (SAR) SEWARD CAP, 210 RQS & 212 RQS
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an emergency beacon near the Kings River. Seward (SWD) CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft which located several people on the ground with bonfires and emergency strobes. The 210 and 212 RQS were then tasked and responded with an HH-60 helicopter and pararescuemen (pj's) which located two survivors from a swamped skiff. The survivors were recovered to Anchorage and were released to airport police, after they refused medical treatment. SWD CAP flew one sortie for 1.6 hours. The 210 RQS HH-60 with 212 RQS pj’s onboard flew one sortie for 1.5 hours. Two saves awarded.

PAC-06-A-167-S 04 SEP 06 (SAR) GULKANA CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT north of Gulkana (GKN). GKN CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft however they were unable to locate the source of the ELT. A GKN CAP ground search team was tasked the following day and located the non-distress ELT, in a parked aircraft at Paxson Lake, and secured it. GKN CAP flew one sortie for 2.0 hours and their ground team searched for 3.8 hours and claimed $24.16 for expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-06-A-168-S 05 SEP 06 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP & BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT and aircraft reports of an ELT located east of Anchorage (ANC). ANC CAP was tasked to respond with a search aircraft, however while the ANC CAP aircrew was waiting for their aircraft to return from a training flight, a Birchwood (BCV) CAP member reported hearing the ELT at BCV. BCV CAP was tasked and responded with a ground team which located the non-distress ELT in a parked aircraft and secured it. ANC CAP flew no sorties or hours. The BCV CAP ground team searched for 1.0 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-06-A-171-S 07 SEP 06 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to FAA reports of an ELT in the Anchorage area. The Anchorage CAP (ANC CAP) was tasked and responded with a ground search team which was unable to locate the source of the ELT that subsequently ceased transmissions. The ANC CAP ground team searched for 0.8 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-06-A-172-S 08 SEP 06 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near Delta Junction. Fairbanks CAP (FAI CAP) was tasked and responded with a search aircraft which localized the ELT signal to a private airstrip near Harding Lake. The airstrip was too short for the CAP aircraft to land so they dropped a note to have the people on the ground turn off the ELT. Shortly afterward the non-distress ELT ceased. FAI CAP flew one sortie for 1.9 hours. No credits awarded.

PAC-06-A-174-A 09 SEP 06 (ASSIST) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the AK State Troopers (AST) in Fairbanks (FAI) to search for two overdue (o/d) boaters traveling on Birch Creek. FAI CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft which searched the area with negative results. The o/d boaters were subsequently located non-distress the following day by an AST helicopter. FAI CAP flew one sortie for 3.3 hours. No credits awarded.

PAC-06-A-177-S 10 SEP 06 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP & C/1-52 AVN
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT 50 miles east of Fairbanks (FAI). FAI CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft which located a downed aircraft. U.S. Army Alaska, C Company/1-52 aviation (C/1-52 AVN) was then tasked and responded with a UH-60 helicopter which recovered the survivor and brought him to FAI Memorial Hospital. FAI CAP flew one sortie for 2.3 hours and the C/1-52 AVN UH-60 flew two sorties for 5.0 hours. One save awarded.

PAC-06-A-178-S 12 SEP 06 (SAR) 210 RQS & BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT 30 miles west of Anchorage. The 210 RQS HH-60 helicopter was tasked and diverted from their training flight and localized the ELT to Big Lake. Birchwood (BCV) CAP was then tasked and responded with a ground team which located the non-distress ELT in a parked aircraft. The owner was contacted who then silenced the ELT. The 210 RQS HH-60 flew one sortie for 0.3 hours, and the Birchwood CAP ground team searched for 3.0 hours and claimed $50.71 for expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-06-A-180-S 13 SEP 06 (SAR) BETHEL CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT 65nm N.E. of Aniak. Bethel (BET) CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which located a crashed aircraft partially submerged in the Iditarod River. While circling overhead the crash site, BET CAP contacted the aircraft owner via radio and was informed the aircraft was being recovered. 11 RCC later found out that the mishap occurred the day prior and no assistance was required. The ELT was silenced by the salvage crew. BET CAP flew three sorties for 3.8 hours. No credits awarded.

PAC-06-A-183-S 16 SEP 06 (SAR) BIRCHWOOD CAP, ANCHORAGE CAP, 210 RQS, 211 RQS & 212 RQS
Mission opened in response to a report of an overdue (o/d) aircraft from the AK State Troopers (AST) in Fairbanks. The o/d aircraft had been reported as entering deteriorating weather conditions in Mystic Pass and was unable to turn around. Birchwood (BCV) CAP and Anchorage (ANC) CAP were tasked and responded with search aircraft which located the o/d aircraft wreckage. The 210, 211 and 212 RQS were then tasked and responded with an HH-60 helicopter and HC-130 both with 212 RQS pararescuemen (pj's) onboard. The AKANG assets located the wreckage and determined the occupants to be deceased. BCV CAP flew three sorties for 11.3 hours. ANC CAP flew two sorties for 7.2 hours. The 210 RQS HH-60 with 212 RQS pj’s onboard flew two sorties for 7.2 hours, and the 211 RQS HC-130 with 212 RQS pj’s onboard flew two sorties for 7.1 hours. Two deceased.

PAC-06-A-184-S 17 SEP 06 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP & C/1-52 AVN
Mission opened in response to a MAYDAY call made on marine channel 16 reported by Fairbanks (FAI) FSS. FAI CAP and US Army Alaska, C Company/1-52 Aviation (C/1-52 AVN) were tasked and responded with search aircraft and a UH-60A helicopter which successfully located a lost and distressed hunter who had become separated from her hunting party and was unable to self-recover. The UH-60A helicopter recovered the uninjured hunter and flew her back to her party. FAI CAP flew one sortie for 2.9 hours. The C/1-52 AVN UH-60A flew one sortie for 1.3 hours. One assist awarded.

PAC-06-A-185-S 18 SEP 06 (SAR) BETHEL CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near Bethel (BET). BET CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team, which located the non-distress ELT in a parked aircraft and secured it. The BET CAP ground team searched for 0.6 hours, and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-06-A-191-S 23 SEP 06 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near Anchorage (ANC). ANC CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team which located the non-distress ELT in an aircraft at Lake Hood. The ELT had been accidentally set off while the aircraft was undergoing maintenance in a hangar. The ANC CAP ground team searched for 3.0 hours with no expenses claimed. No credits awarded.

PAC-06-A-192-S 25 SEP 06 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP & BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to aircraft and SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Girdwood area. Anchorage CAP (ANC CAP) and Birchwood CAP (BCV CAP) were tasked and responded with search aircraft and ground search teams, respectively, which located the non-distress ELT in a parked aircraft at the new Wasilla airport. ANC CAP flew one sortie for 2.4 hours, and their ground team searched for 1.3 hours claiming no expenses. BCV CAP flew one sortie for 0.8 hours, and their ground team searched for 2.0 hours claiming no expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-06-A-193-S 28 SEP 06 (SAR) EIELSON CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an emergency beacon in the Fairbanks area. Eielson CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team which located the non-distress ELT in a parked aircraft. The owner was also on scene and silenced his ELT. The Eielson CAP ground team searched for 3.0 hours and claimed $45.45 for expenses. No credits awarded.
