PAC-06-A-023-S 28 FEB 06 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP, 211 RQS & 212 RQS
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near anchorage (ANC). The 211 RQS HC-130 with 212 RQS pararescuemen (PJ’s) onboard was tasked and diverted from a training flight, and localized the ELT to the Anchorage area. ANC CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team, which located and secured the non-distress ELT in an aircraft at the Anchorage International Airport. The 211 RQS HC-130 with 212 RQS PJ’s onboard flew one sortie for 1.6 hours. The ANC CAP ground team searched for 0.6 hours, and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded. Note: PAC-06-A-023-s closed on 01 MAR 06 and is therefore included in the March end of month report.

PAC-06-A-025-S 02 MAR 06 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near North Pole. Fairbanks (FAI) CAP was tasked and responded with several ground search teams and search aircraft. The non-distress ELT was finally located in a barracks on Fort Wainwright. The ELT was secured followed by three SARSAT missed passes. FAI CAP flew two sorties for 3.0 hours, and their ground teams searched for 6 hours claiming $37.00 for fuel expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-06-A-026-S 06 MAR 06 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to FAA reports of an ELT in the Anchorage area. Anchorage CAP (ANC CAP) was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, however they were unable to locate the source of the ELT, which subsequently ceased transmissions. ANC CAP flew one sortie for 0.7 hours. No credits awarded.

PAC-06-A-029-A 10 MAR 06 (ASSIST) JUNEAU CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from USCG District 17 to search for a distressed fishing vessel traveling from Kake to Sitka. The vessel reportedly made a MAYDAY call and debris with the vessel’s markings was later discovered. Juneau CAP (JNU CAP) was tasked and responded with two search aircraft which were unable locate any signs of the distressed vessel. USCG D17 subsequently suspended the search. JNU CAP flew seven sorties for 28.0 hours. Two missing.

PAC-06-A-030-S 12 MAR 06 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near Beluga Mountain. Anchorage CAP was tasked and responded with an aircraft, which searched the area and heard the ELT briefly but was unable to locate the source. The ELT subsequently ceased transmissions. Anchorage CAP flew one sortie for 2.4 hours. No credits awarded.

PAC-06-A-032-S 16 MAR 06 (SAR) KENAI CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near Cooper Landing. Kenai (ENA) CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which located and secured the non-distress ELT in a hangar at Soldotna. ENA CAP flew two sorties for 2.6 hours. No credits awarded.

PAC-06-A-033-A 19 MAR 06 (ASSIST) KENAI CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the AK State Troopers (AST) in Soldotna, to search for an overdue (o/d) snowmobiler traveling from Caribou Hills to Clam Gulch. Kenai (ENA) CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft. The o/d snowmobiler self-recovered after his snowmobile had gotten stuck. He was helped by another snowmobiler passing by, and declined assistance from ENA CAP or AST Helo-1. ENA CAP flew one sortie for 1.7 hours. One located.

PAC-06-A-034-S 20 MAR 06 (SAR) KENAI CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT and FAA reports of an ELT near Nikiski. Kenai (ENA) CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft (acft) and ground search team. The ENA CAP acft localized the signal to the ENA airport and then dispatched the ground team, which located and secured the non-distress ELT in a parked acft at the ENA airport. ENA CAP flew one sortie for 0.5 hours and their ground team searched for 0.7 hours, and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-06-A-036-S 24 MAR 06 (SAR) BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to FAA and SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Birchwood area. The Birchwood CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team that located and silenced the non-distress ELT in a hangared aircraft at the Birchwood airport. The Birchwood CAP ground team searched for 4.0 hours claiming $50.00 for expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-06-A-037-S 26 MAR 06 (SAR) KENAI CAP
Mission opened in response to a pilot report of an ELT in the Soldotna area. Kenai CAP (ENA CAP) was tasked and responded with a ground search team, which located and silenced the non-distress ELT in a hangared aircraft at the Soldotna airport. The ENA CAP ground team searched for 3.0 hours claiming $40.00 for expenses. No credits awarded.
