PAC-06-A-139-S 29 JUL 06 (SAR) 211 RQS, 212 RQS, AASF-ANC, AK STATE TROOPERS, USCG D17, ANCHORAGE CAP, BIRCHWOOD CAP, KENAI CAP & SEWARD CAP
Mission opened in response to a report of an overdue (o/d) aircraft (acft) flying from Anchorage to Kenai and then back to Anchorage, with three pilots onboard. The aircraft’s gps tracking system, along with FAA radar data, ceased friday evening (28 Jul 06) west of Point Possession over Cook Iinlet. The 211 and 212 RQS were tasked and diverted an HC-130 with pararescuemen (pj’s) onboard returning from mission 2006-0138. The HC-130 crew was unable to locate any signs of the o/d acft. Subsequently search acft from Kenai (ENA), Anchorage (anc), Birchwood (BCV) and Seward (SWD) CAP, the AK State Troopers (AST), an AK ARNG (AASF-ANC) UH-60L and a USCG D17 HH-60J were all tasked and responded. Civilian volunteers and friends of the family also responded with ground teams and aircraft. Six days of extensive searching yielded no signs of the o/d acft, and the mission was officially approved for suspension by the 11 AF commander. The 211 RQS HC-130 with 212 RQS pj’s onboard flew one sortie for 2.0 hours (hrs), the AASF-ANC UH-60L flew two sorties for 4.8 hrs, the USCG D17 HH-60J flew two sorties for 7.3 hrs, AST flew six sorties for 10.1 hrs, ANC CAP flew seven sorties for 26.3 hrs, BCV CAP flew six sorties for 19.1 hrs, ENA CAP flew 15 sorties for 43.9 hrs, and SWD CAP flew 10 sorties for 28.0 hrs. Three missing.

PAC-06-A-142-S 06 AUG 06 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near Nenana. Fairbanks CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft however they were unable to locate the source of the ELT, which subsequently ceased transmissions. Fairbanks CAP flew one sortie for 1.4 hours. No credits awarded.
PAC-06-A-144-S 08 AUG 06 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to aircraft and SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Fairbanks area. Fairbanks CAP (FAI CAP) was tasked and responded with a search aircraft and ground search teams. The non-distress ELT was located in an airplane at Chena Marina Airfield. The ELT was secured. FAI CAP flew two sorties for 1.4 hours, and their ground teams searched for 1.5 hours claiming no expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-06-A-149-S 13 AUG 06 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT n.w. of Anchorage (ANC). ANC CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which localized the ELT signal to the Sand Lake area. ANC CAP then responded with a ground search team which located the non-distress ELT in an aircraft on sand lake. ANC CAP flew one sortie for 2.0 hours, and their ground team searched for 2.0 hours claiming no expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-06-A-150-S 16 AUG 06 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT and airborne reports of an ELT in the Anchorage area. Anchorage CAP (ANC CAP) was tasked and responded with a ground search team which located the non-distress ELT in a moored floatplane on Campbell Lake. The ANC CAP ground team searched for 2.7 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-06-A-151-S 19 AUG 06 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to an FAA report of an ELT near Lake Hood. Anchorage (ANC) CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team, which located and silenced the non-distress ELT in a moored aircraft at Lake Hood. The ANC CAP ground team searched for 0.4 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-06-A-153-S 21 AUG 06 (SAR) EIELSON CAP & C/1-52 AVN
Mission opened in response to aircraft and SARSAT reports of an ELT near Harding Lake. Eielson CAP (EIL CAP) was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which located a crashed aircraft as the source of the ELT signal. U.S. Army Alaska, C Company/1-52 aviation (C/1-52 AVN) was tasked and responded with a UH-60 helicopter, which located a crashed aircraft and recovered the two survivors to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. EIL CAP flew one sortie for 2.1 hours and the C/1-52 AVN UH-60 flew one sortie for 1.3 hours. Two saves awarded.
PAC-06-A-156-S 23 AUG 06 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near Fairbanks (FAI). FAI CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team which located the non-distress ELT in a hangared aircraft at Chena Marina, and secured it. The FAI CAP ground team searched for 2.0 hours with no expenses claimed. No credits awarded.
PAC-06-A-157-S 23 AUG 06 (SAR) BIRCHWOOD CAP, 210 RQS & 212 RQS
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near Harvard Glacier. Birchwood (BCV) CAP was tasked and responded with two search aircraft which localized the ELT to a parked aircraft on a small remote airstrip, but were unable to land near the aircraft. The 210 and 212 RQS were then tasked and responded with an HH-60 and pararescuemen (pj’s) which landed and silenced the non-distress ELT. BCV CAP flew two sorties for 2.5 hours. The 210 RQS HH-60 with 212 RQS pj’s onboard flew one sortie for 1.3 hours. No credits awarded.
PAC-06-A-160-S 25 AUG 06 (SAR) BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Wasilla area. Birchwood CAP was tasked to respond with a ground search team; however the non-distress ELT was secured by the Wasilla airport manager prior to the CAP ground team departure. The Birchwood CAP ground team searched did not search and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-06-A-161-S 27 AUG 06 (SAR) EIELSON CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT 40 nm n.e. of Fairbanks. Eielson (EIL) CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which located a crashed aircraft. EIL CAP made radio contact with the pilot who indicated he and his passengers were uninjured, and needed no assistance. EIL CAP flew one sortie for 1.9 hours. No credits awarded.
PAC-06-A-163-S 30 AUG 06 (SAR) HOMER CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Homer area. Homer CAP was tasked and responded with search aircraft which located the non-distress ELT in a hangar at the Homer Airport, and had the owner secure it. Homer CAP flew one sortie for 2.3 hours. No credits awarded.
