PAC-05-A-207-S 02 OCT 05 (SAR) BETHEL CAP
Mission opened in response to a CAP pilot report of a downed aircraft adjacent to Canyon Creek Airstrip, which is located 65 nm S.E. of Bethel (BET). The CAP pilot established radio contact with the pilot of the aircraft and informed him he would return to pick them up with a different airplane. BET CAP informed 11RCC of the situation and requested an RCC mission. 11RCC granted the mission to BET CAP which responded with two aircraft, and transported the uninjured pilot and his passenger to the Bethel Airport, where they were released to the AK State Troopers. BET CAP flew four sorties for 6.3 hours. Two saves awarded.
PAC-05-A-208-A 03 OCT 05 (ASSIST) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistanceffrom the AK State Troopers (AST) in Delta Junction to search for two overdue (o/d) duck hunters on Healy Lake. Fairbanks (FAI) CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, however the o/d hunters were located by AST before FAI CAP arrived on scene. FAI CAP flew one sortie for 0.4 hours. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-209-S 03 OCT 05 (SAR) SEWARD CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT west of Montague Island. Seward CAP (SWD CAP) was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, however they were unable to locate the source of the ELT, which subsequently ceased transmissions. No signs of distress were found. SWD CAP flew one sortie for 3.1 hours. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-211-S 08 OCT 05 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near Mount Spurr. Anchorage (ANC) CAP was tasked and diverted a search aircraft from a training flight to investigate. The ANC CAP aircrew picked up a brief ELT signal, however as they neared Mount Spurr it suddenly ceased. No signs of distress were located and the ANC CAP aircrew continued with their training flight. ANC CAP flew one sortie for 1.4 hours. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-213-S 11 OCT 05 (SAR) BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT 10 miles east of Palmer. Birchwood CAP (BCV CAP) was tasked and responded with a ground search team, which was unable to locate the source of the ELT. BCV CAP then launched a search aircraft, which located and silenced the non-distress ELT in an aircraft parked at Wolf Lake. BCV CAP flew one sortie for 0.6 hours, and their ground team searched for 1 hour and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-216-A 16 OCT 05 (ASSIST) KODIAK CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from USCG D17 to search for an ELT near Kalsin Bay. Kodiak CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team. The non-distress ELT was located in a USCG helicopter and secured. The Kodiak CAP ground team searched for 1.5 hours and claimed 9.5 gallons of fuel for expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-217-S 21 OCT 05 (SAR) 210 RQS, 212 RQS & ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to an FAA report of a downed aircraft (acft) near the mouth of the Susitna River, with one person onboard. The 210 and 212 RQS were tasked and responded with an HH-60 and pararescue team (PJ’s). The HH-60 aircrew recovered the pilot and took him to Kulis ANG Base, where he was released to Anchorage (ANC) International Airport Police. A SARSAT report of an ELT was received and thought to be associated with the downed acft. The ANC CAP was tasked and responded with a ground team, which located and secured a non-distress ELT in an amphibious airplane at Anchorage International Airport (not associated with the downed acft). The ANC CAP ground team searched for 1 hour and claimed no expenses. The 210 RQS HH-60 with 212 RQS PJ’s onboard flew one sortie for 0.3 hours. One save awarded to the AK ANG assets.
PAC-05-A-218-S 23 OCT 05 (SAR) KENAI CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Kenai area. Kenai CAP was tasked and responded with a ground team which located and silenced the non-distress ELT, in a truck parked at the Nikiski Agrium Plant. The Kenai CAP ground team searched for 4.6 hours claiming $25.00 for expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-219-S 24 OCT 05 (SAR) BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Eagle River area. Birchwood (BCV) CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team, however they were unable to pick up any ELT signals. The ELT subsequently ceased with three SARSAT missed passes. The BCV CAP ground team searched for 1 hour and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.
