Mission opened in response to sarsat reports of an elt in the fairbanks area. The fai cap was tasked and responded with a ground search team which located and silenced the non-distress elt in a parked acft at the fai international arpt. PAC-05-A-109-S 03 JUL 05 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to sarsat reports of an elt near the susitna flats. Anc cap was tasked and responded with an acft which searched the area and did not detect an elt or indications of distress. They did think the elt signal seemed strongest as they got nearer to anc. Anc airport security personnel subsequently found the non-distress elt in an acft on sand lake and secured it. Anc cap flew one sortie for 2.2 hours. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-110-S 04 JUL 05 (SAR) 210TH RQS, 211TH RQS, 212TH RQS, ANCHORAGE CAP, BIRCHWOOD CAP, ELMENDORF CAP, HOMER CAP, KENAI CAP, SEWARD CAP, USCG D17
Mission opened in response to faa and family member reports of an o/d acft last seen flying in the homer area. An individual who refueled the acft in homer said that the three occupants had mentioned that they intended to fly around the kachemak bay area in their rented cessna 207, however the o/d pilot did not file a flight plan. Uscg d17 (hc130), the 211th rqs and 212th rqs (hc130 with pj`s) cap assets from anc, edf, bcv, ena, hom, and swd all responded with search acft. On day three of the search, a uscg d17 hc-130 on a training flight spotted acft wreckage on the barren islands south of homer. A uscg d17 hh-60 was diverted and confirmed that the wreckage appeared recent, but they could not lower their sar swimmer to investigate further due to the terrain. A 210th rqs hh-60 with 212th rqs pj`s made it to the crash site and confirmed that it was the o/d acft, and that there were no survivors. Due to the difficult terrain, the hh-60 crew recovered the remains at the request of ast, and transported them to anc where they were released to a medical examiner. The uscg d17 hc-130 flew 2 sorties for 5.4hrs and their hh-60 flew 1 sortie for 1.0 hr. The 211th rqs hc-130 with 212th rqs pj`s onboard flew 3 sorties for 10.4hrs. The 210th rqs hh-60 with 212th rqs pj`s onboard flew 1 sortie for 4.7hrs. Anc cap flew 8 sorties for 33.5hrs, bcv cap flew 2 sorties for 11.7hrs, hom cap flew 3 sorties for 7.8hrs, ena cap flew 5 sorties for 11.1hrs, edf cap flew 4 sorties for 15.3hrs, and swd cap flew 4 sorties for 15.8hrs. Three deceased.
PAC-05-A-111-A 05 JUL 05 (ASSIST) KODIAK CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the uscg d17 (jnu rcc) to search for an epirb in the kodiak area. Kodiak cap was tasked and responded with a ground team, which located a non-distress epirb on the deck of a boat, which had a new epirb installed. They silenced the epirb and turned it over to the harbormaster. The kodiak cap ground team searched for 0.4 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-113-S 07 JUL 05 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to sarsat reports of an elt located in anc. Anc cap was tasked and responded with a ground team, which localized the non-distress elt to a moored acft at lake hood seaplane base. Anc international arpt security was called and they contacted the acft owner, who then secured his errant elt. The anc cap ground team searched for 1 hour and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-114-S 07 JUL 05 (SAR) VALDEZ CAP
Mission opened in response to sarsat reports of an elt in the cordova area. Valdez cap was tasked and responded with a search aircraft but they were unable to take off due to a suspicious package at the valdez airport. The elt subsequently ceased transmissions. Valdez cap did not fly on this mission. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-115-S 08 JUL 05 (SAR) SEWARD CAP & AST
Mission opened in response to private and faa reports of an o/d acft traveling from bear lake to johnstone lake ferrying clients. Swd cap was tasked and responded with a search acft. Ast also responded with a helicopter to help with the search. The ast helicopter located the o/d acft upside down in johnstone bay. They then spotted four survivors floating on icebergs. The ast helicopter recovered the survivors, but was unable to locate the fifth person who was last seen helping the others. Swd cap flew one sortie for 1.6 hours and the ast helicopter flew two sorties for 2.5 hours. Four saves awarded and one deceased.

Ena cap was tasked and responded with a ground search team, however, they were unable to locate the source of the elt, which subsequently ceased transmissions. The ena cap ground team searched for 2.0 hours claiming $20.00 for expenses. No credits awarded.

Mission opened in response to sarsat reports of an elt near bethel. Bet cap was tasked and responded with an aircraft and ground teams which searched the area and were not able to determine the source of the elt. The elt subsequently ceased with no signs of distress. Bet cap flew one sortie for 1.0 hour and two ground teams searched for a total of 2.8 hours with no expenses claimed. No credits awarded.

Mission opened in response to sarsat reports of an elt 95 nm n.e. of otz. Otz cap was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which located a crashed aircraft on a sand bar in the noatak river. The pilot had suffered no injuries and was flown back to otz by the cap. Otz cap flew two sorties for 3.0 hours. One save awarded.

Eielson cap was tasked and responded with a ground search team, which located the non-distress elt in an acft at an individuals residence and had the owner secure it. Mission opened in response to a request from ast to assist in the search for two o/d mushroom pickers in the tok area. Fai cap and ast were tasked and responded with search acft. The o/d`s were located by the fai cap aircrew with no injuries, and were recovered by an ast boat team. Fai cap flew one sortie for 4.7 hours and ast flew two sorties for 2.2 hours. Mission opened in response to sarsat reports of an elt plotting near edf. Edf tower also reported hearing the elt signal. Anc cap was tasked and responded with a ground team, which localized the source of the signal to the life support room in hangar three on edf. The 19th fs contacted squadron personnel who secured the non-distress beacon. Anc cap ground team searched for 4.5 hours and claimed $25.56 in expenses. No credits awarded.

Mission opened in response to sarsat reports of an elt in the whittier area. Swd cap, ast, the 210th and 212th rqs were tasked and responded with search aircraft, an hh-60 and pj’s which localized the signal to culross island, but were unable to locate the source of the elt. Ast intended to return the next day to continue the search but the signal had already ceased. Swd cap flew two sorties for 6.0 hours. Ast flew one sortie for 1.1 hours. The 210th rqs hh-60 with 212th rqs pj’s onboard flew one sortie for 2.6 hours. No credits awarded.

Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from uscg d17 to search for an o/d boat near homer. Homer cap was tasked and responded with a search acft, which searched the coastline from homer up to nikiski without finding the vessel. They then returned to homer due to deteriorating weather. The o/d boaters were subsequently found on augustine island by a uscg d17 hc-130, and were brought back to homer by a uscg d17 hh-60. Homer cap flew one sortie for 2.6 hours. Three saves awarded.

Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from uscg d17 to search for signs of distress related to an auto alarm received by them on marine vhf channel 16. Jnu cap was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which thoroughly searched the area with negative results. Uscg d17 suspended the search and released all assets. Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from uscg d17 to search for an o/d kayaker traveling from petersburg to jnu. Jnu cap was tasked and responded with multiple search aircraft, however they were unable to locate the o/d kayaker. Uscg d17 suspended the mission after getting reports that the o/d kayaker was seen in good health in an area not associated with his float plan, and released all assets. Jnu cap flew five sorties for 17.7 hours. No credits awarded.
