PAC-05-A-018-A 05 FEB 05 (ASSIST) JUNEAU CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from USCG District 17 Juneau RCC (JNU RCC) to search for an O/D aircraft in the Juneau area. Juneau CAP (JNU CAP) was tasked and responded with a search aircraft which located the O/D aircraft on Antler Lake after it had become stuck in overflow ice. JNU RCC closed their mission due to no assistance requested from the pilot. JNU CAP flew one sortie for 1.4 hours. One located awarded.
PAC-05-A-019-S 05 FEB 05 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an emergency beacon in Anchorage (ANC). ANC CAP was tasked and responded with several ground teams and a search aircraft. A CAP ground team eventually located the non-distress Class-B EPIRB in an ANC business, and secured it. ANC CAP flew one sortie for 4.2 hours, and their ground teams searched for 7 hours and claimed $23.15 for expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-020-S 06 FEB 05 (SAR) 210TH RQS, 212TH RQS & BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to FAA reports of an O/D aircraft traveling from Lake Hood to Lake George and back to Lake Hood. Birchwood CAP (BCV CAP) was tasked and responded with a ground search team for a field check at Birchwood airport, which was unsuccessful. The 210th RQS and 212th RQS were tasked and responded with a HH-60 helicopter and pararescue (PJ) team which located the O/D aircraft on Lake George, after it had experienced mechanical problems. The 210th and 212th RQS recovered the pilot and passenger to Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage with no injuries. The BCV CAP ground team searched for 0.5 hours and claimed no expenses. The 210th RQS HH-60 and 212th RQS PJ’s flew one sortie for 1.6 hours. Two saves awarded.
PAC-05-A-024-A 13 FEB 05 (ASSIST) JUNEAU CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from USCG D17 to search for an O/D person traveling in a skiff near Petersburg. Juneau CAP (JNU CAP) was tasked and responded with two search aircraft. They each transported search dogs to the search area and then did an aerial search, however they were unable to locate the missing person. AST and USCG D17 both suspended the search and required no further assistance. JNU CAP flew seven sorties for 9.5 hours. One missing.
PAC-05-A-026-A 16 FEB 05 (ASSIST) KODIAK CAP
Mission opened in response to a USCG D17 request for assistance to locate the source of an ELT signal in Kodiak. The Kodiak (ADQ) CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team which located the non-distress EPIRB in the bed of a pickup truck. EPIRB secured followed by three SARSAT missed passes. The ADQ CAP ground team searched for 0.5 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-029-S 19 FEB 05 (SAR) KENAI CAP
Mission opened in response to FAA, aircraft and SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Kenai (ENA) area. ENA CAP was tasked and initially responded with a ground search team, which was able to pick up a weak ELT signal, but could not locate the source. ENA CAP then launched a search aircraft, however the ELT signal ceased prior to it`s source being located. No signs of distress were found. ENA CAP flew one sortie for 1.0 hour, and their ground team searched for 1.0 hour and claimed $20.00 for fuel and oil expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-030-A 21 FEB 05 (ASSIST) KODIAK CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from USCG District 17 (JNU RCC) to search for an EPIRB in Kodiak. A USCG HH-60J helicopter localized the beacon`s signal to the small boat harbor in Kodiak. Kodiak CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team, which located the non-distress EPIRB on a moored fishing vessel, and secured it. The Kodiak CAP ground team searched for 2.0 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-031-A 24 FEB 05 (ASSIST) KODIAK CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the USCG D17 (JNU CAP) to search for an ELT in Kodiak. Kodiak CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team, however they were unable to locate the source of the ELT, which subsequently ceased transmissions. The Kodiak CAP ground team searched for 1.5 hours claiming no expenses. No credits awarded.
