PAC-05-A-226-A 02 DEC 05 (ASSIST) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the Fairbanks Alaska state troopers (AST) to search for an overdue snowmachiner in the Stevens village area. The Fairbanks (FAI) CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft. A civilian helicopter also volunteered to assist in the search. The overdue snowmachiner was located non-distress by a Stevens village resident, prior to the CAP aircraft’s departure. FAI CAP flew no sorties or hours. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-227-S 03 DEC 05 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Fairbanks area. Fairbanks (FAI) CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team, however they were unable to pick up any ELT signals. The ELT subsequently ceased with three SARSAT missed passes. The FAI CAP ground team searched for 0.5 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-228-A 09 DEC 05 (ASSIST) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the Alaska State Troopers (AST) in Cantwell to search for three overdue snowmachiners that departed mile 280 of the parks highway to the Japan Hills area to hunt moose. The Fairbanks (FAI) CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which located the snowmachiners immediately after being notified that another group of snowmachiners encountered them and called AST. The CAP aircraft overflew the overdues before returning to FAI. The overdues self-recovered to mile 280 of the parks highway and met with AST. The FAI CAP flew one sortie for 1.5 hours. Three located.
PAC-05-A-229-S 21 DEC 05 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Fairbanks area. Fairbanks CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team, however they were unable to locate the source of the ELT, which subsequently ceased transmissions. The Fairbanks CAP ground team searched for 0.2 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-233-A 28 DEC 05 (ASSIST) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the AK State Troopers (AST) in Fairbanks (FAI) to search for signs of distress relating to a report of flares being set off east of FAI. FAI CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which searched the area of concern without finding any signs of distress. FAI AST no longer required assistance and FAI CAP was released from the mission. FAI CAP flew one sortie for 2.5 hours. No credits awarded.
