PAC-05-A-142-S 03 AUG 05 (SAR) 210 RQS DET-1, 212 RQS, AK WING CAP, ANCHORAGE CAP, EIELSON CAP, FAIRBANKS CAP & AST
Mission opened in response to a faa report for an overdue aircraft. A c-180 with two people onboard traveling from a private strip in north pole to a cabin on the wood river was reported overdue by a family member. Several assets were tasked and responded with search aircraft to include: 210 rqs det-1 hh-60 along with the 212 rqs pj`s, the fairbanks, eielson, anchorage and ak wing cap and the ak state troopers helicopter. After several days of searching the aircraft was located crashed and partially burned just outside of restricted area 2211 on eielson afb. Both occupants were deceased. The 210 rqs det-1 hh-60 along with the 212 rqs pj`s flew one sortie for 3.3 hours. The ak wing cap flew two sorties for 6.2 hours, anc cap flew three sorties for 5.4 hours, eil cap flew one sortie for 1.9 hours and fai cap flew 12 sorties for 40.8 hours. The ast helo flew one sortie for 6.5 hours. Two deceased.
PAC-05-A-144-A 05 AUG 05 (ASSIST) KOTZEBUE CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from ast in otz to search for five o/d family members in a boat traveling from otz to buckland. Otz cap was tasked and responded with a search acft, which located the family on the shoreline 23 miles s.w. of otz, after their boat was swamped and disabled. The otz cap acft airdropped a radio and survival gear. Ast then contracted a civilian helicopter, which extracted the family and took them to otz. Otz cap flew one sortie for 3.3 hours. Five saves awarded.
PAC-05-A-146-S 05 AUG 05 (SAR) EIELSON CAP
Mission opened in response to sarsat reports of an elt near eielson afb. Eielson cap was tasked and responded with a ground search team which located and silenced the non-distress elt, in an aircraft parked at a residence. The eielson cap ground team searched for 2.0 hours and claimed $12.00 in expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-148-S 06 AUG 05 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to sarsat and acft reports of an elt in the fai area, along with an faa report for an o/d acft 70 miles s.w. of fai. Fai cap was tasked and responded with a search acft, however the o/d acft report was cancelled while they were en route to it`s destination. The fai cap acft confirmed the o/d acft was non-distress and returned to fai. A fai cap ground team was subsequently tasked and located the non-distress elt onboard a parked acft at a private airstrip. The elt was secured and three sarsat missed passes were received. Fai cap flew one sortie for 1.7 hours, and their ground team searched for 1.5 hours claiming no expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-149-S 07 AUG 05 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to sarsat and faa reports of an elt near anchorage. Anchorage cap was tasked and responded with a search aircraft and a ground search team which located and secured two separate non-distress elt`s, one in a moored floatplane at six mile lake and the other in an aircraft that was in the process of being salvaged at figure eight lake. The anchorage cap ground team searched for 2.7 hours claiming no expenses and the anchorage cap also flew two sorties for 2.2 hours. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-150-S 09 AUG 05 (SAR) BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to sarsat reports of an elt in the wasilla area. Birchwood cap was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, however ak state troopers (ast) had already been notified and responded to a downed aircraft report near wasilla. Ast had everything under control and didn`t require any assistance. Birchwood cap flew one sortie for 1.5 hours. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-151-S 09 AUG 05 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to sarsat reports of an elt south of portage. Anchorage cap was tasked and launched a search aircraft. The elt signal moved towards anchorage with a new site id on the same frequency. The signal was localized to the east side of anchorage. Anc cap landed and continued the search with a ground team. The signal was located non-distress in a motorhome which had just returned from seward with a new epirb that shorted out. The anc cap flew 1 sortie for 2.0 hours and their ground team searched for 2.5 hours, claiming no expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-152-A 10 AUG 05 (ASSIST) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the ak state troopers (ast) in denali national park to transport personnel and dog teams to search for an overdue hiker. Anchorage cap was tasked and provided two aircraft which transported all of the required searchers and their equipment. Denali nps (and therefore ast) suspended search efforts pending any further leads and required no further assistance. Anchorage cap flew 8 sorties for 9.4 hours. One missing.
PAC-05-A-153-S 10 AUG 05 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to sarsat reports of an elt signal in the fairbanks area. Fai cap was tasked and searched with an aircraft to confine the search area to chena marina. Ground teams then searched and located the non-distress elt in a parked c-185. Fai cap flew one sortie for 0.8 hours and their ground teams searched for 2.7 hours with no expenses claimed. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-154-S 12 AUG 05 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to sarsat reports of an elt in the fairbanks area. Fairbanks cap was tasked and responded with a ground team, but was unable to determine the source of the signal. The elt stopped transmitting and no sign of distress was found. The fairbanks cap ground team searched for 2.2 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.

Mission opened in response to faa reports of an overdue aircraft traveling between sport lake and twin lakes on the kenai peninsula. Ena cap was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which located the overdue aircraft at twin lakes waiting for weather to clear. Ena cap flew one sortie for 1.5 hours. Two located awarded.
PAC-05-A-159-S 20 AUG 05 (SAR) ELMENDORF CAP, 210 RQS & 212 RQS
Mission opened in response to sarsat reports of an elt near metal glacier. Edf cap was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which located a crashed acft on a small airstrip with a tent nearby. The cap aircrew did not see anyone in the area. The 210 rqs and 212 rqs were then tasked and responded with an hh-60 and pj team. They searched the area but did not find the pilot. Other than the condition of the acft, there were no signs of distress. The elt was silenced and messages were left for the pilot. The edf cap flew one sortie for 2.1 hours. The 210 rqs hh-60, with 212 rqs pjs on board, flew one sortie for 1.3 hours. No credits awarded.

Mission opened in response to faa reports of an overdue aircraft between talkeetna and the overdue pilot’s cabin. An elmendorf civil air patrol (cap) aircraft diverted from a training mission to search the route of the overdue. The overdue pilot called in having safely arrived at his cabin non-distress. Mission opened in response to sarsat reports of an elt near talkeetna. An elmendorf civil air patrol (cap) aircraft was diverted from a training mission to search the area. The crew did not hear any elt signal in the search area so they returned to base. The elt signal has subsequently ceased. The elmendorf cap flew 1 sortie for .5 hours. No credits awarded.

The crew identified that the elt signal was coming from a floatplane and directed a cap ground team to the aircraft. The ground team silenced the non-distress elt. Mission opened in response to sarsat reports of an elt near seward. A kenai civil air patrol (cap) aircraft was tasked to search the area. The crew determined that the intermittent elt signal was coming from a group of non-distress boats near caines head. The non-distress elt faded and then ceased while the cap plane was flying over the area. Kenai cap flew one sortie for 2.0 hours. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-169-S 28 AUG 05 (SAR) KENAI CAP
Mission opened in response to sarsat reports of an elt near pedro bay. A kenai civil air patrol (cap) aircraft was tasked to search the area. While cap was en route, rcc contacted an airplane owner in the area who checked his elt and heard only the carrier signal. When he turned off the elt, the signal stopped. When cap arrived on scene they confirmed there was no indication of an elt signal. The kenai cap flew one sortie for 2.4 hours. No credits awarded.
PAC-05-A-170-A 28 AUG 05 (ASSIST) SEWARD CAP, 210 RQS & 212 RQS
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the ak state troopers (ast) to recover a hiker suffering from a broken ankle and lacerations on mt marathon. Seward (swd) cap was tasked and responded with a search aircraft to provide the location of the injured hiker to ground teams and later to the 210 rqs hh-60. The 210 and 212 rqs were subsequently tasked and responded with an hh-60 and pj team, which recovered the injured hiker and transported him to the seward airport, where he was transloaded to an ambulance and taken to the seward hospital. Swd cap flew one sortie for 2.8 hours and the 210 rqs hh-60, with 212 rqs pjs on board, flew one sortie for 1.7 hours. One assist awarded.
PAC-05-A-172-A 30 AUG 05 (ASSIST) KOTZEBUE CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the ak state troopers (ast) in kotzebue (otz) to search for four overdue individuals in a boat traveling near otz. Otz cap was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which located the overdue boat disabled. The otz cap aircraft airdropped water and food to the survivors. Ast then contracted a civilian helicopter, which extracted the survivors and took them to otz. Otz cap flew two sorties for 2.2 hours. Four assists awarded.
PAC-05-A-174-A 31 AUG 05 (ASSIST) JUNEAU CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the uscg d17 in juneau, to search for a distressed boater near taku inlet. The distressed boater was believed to have fallen overboard. Juneau cap was tasked and provided several search aircraft, which extensively searched the entire area with negative results. Uscg d17 suspended aerial search efforts, and released juneau cap from the mission. Juneau cap flew two sorties for 4.5 hours. No credits awarded
