PAC-04-A-042-S 01 APR 04 (SAR) BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near Houston. Birchwood (BCV) CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, however the ELT ceased before the aircraft arrived on scene. During the same period FAA reported a civilian aircraft had suffered a hard landing on Knik Glacier and the two uninjured airmen were requesting assistance. The BCV CAP aircraft was diverted to investigate and located the airmen at the 5800 ft level on Knik Glacier. A civilian good samaritan aircraft in the area landed and recovered the airmen to Palmer. BCV CAP flew one sortie for 1.5 hours. Two saves awarded.

PAC-04-A-043-S 03 APR 04 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near north pole. Fairbanks CAP (FAI CAP) was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which localized the ELT signal to the Bradley Sky Ranch area. A FAI CAP ground team then located the non-distress ELT on a parked aircraft parked in front of a residence approximately three miles from the Bradley Sky Ranch airport. FAI CAP flew one sortie for 1.1 hours and the ground team searched for 0.5 hours and claimed $36.50 for expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-04-A-044-S 06 APR 04 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the Alaska State Troopers (AST) in Fairbanks (FAI) to search for an overdue aircraft traveling from Circle Hot Springs to FAI. FAI CAP was tasked and responded with three search aircraft, which extensively searched the area, however they were unable to locate the overdue aircraft. The overdue pilot self-recovered to the Angle Creek Lodge and then notified his wife. FAI CAP flew three sorties for 10.3 hours. No credits awarded.

PAC-04-A-045-A 08 APR 04 (ASSIST) BIRCHWOOD CAP & 210TH RQS
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the Alaska State Troopers to search for an overdue snowmachiner near Red Shirt Lake. The 210th RQS and Birchwood (BCV) CAP were tasked and responded with an HC-130 and C-170, respectively. The HC-130 conducted a night visual search of the area with negative results. The following day the BCV CAP aircraft located and recovered the overdue snowmachiner and transported him to Nancy Lake in good condition. The 210th RQS HC-130 flew one sortie for 1.2 hours, and BCV CAP flew one sortie for 3.0 hours. One assist awarded.

PAC-04-A-046-A 08 APR 04 (ASSIST) KOTZEBUE CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the Alaska State Troopers, to search for an overdue snowmachiner near Selawik. Kotzebue CAP (OTZ CAP) was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, however while the CAP aircraft was searching the overdue snowmachiner self-recovered to Selawik non-distress. OTZ CAP flew two sorties for 4.0 hours. No credits awarded.

PAC-04-A-047-S 09 APR 04 (SAR) BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Anchorage area. Birchwood (BCV) CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft and a ground search team, which located and silenced the non-distress ELT in the Anchorage landfill. BCV CAP flew one sortie for 1.0 hours, and their ground team searched for 10 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-04-A-048-A 11 APR 04 (ASSIST) BETHEL CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the AK State Troopers (AST) to search for an overdue snowmobiler traveling from Bethel (BET) to Marshall. BET CAP was tasked and responded with one search aircraft from Bethel and another search aircraft from Russian Mission. An AST search aircraft located and assisted the overdue snowmobiler to Marshall after the two Bethel CAP aircraft departed their home bases. BET CAP flew four sorties for 2.7 hours. One assist awarded.

PAC-04-A-049-S 12 APR 04 (SAR) SEWARD CAP, BIRCHWOOD CAP, & 210TH RQS
Mission opened in response to SARSAT and aircraft reports of an ELT in the Palmer/Wasilla area. Seward (SWD) CAP was tasked and diverted a search aircraft from a training flight. The SWD CAP aircrew initially localized the ELT signal near Willow and the Talkeenta Mts., but lost the signal and could not locate the ELT. The 210th RQS was then tasked and responded with an HH-60 helicopter, which localized the ELT to an airstrip near Wasilla. The HH-60 was unable to land and was released by the RCC. The next morning, Birchwood (BCV) CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team. The ground team located the non-distress ELT in a parked aircraft, and contacted the aircraft’s owner who secured it. SWD CAP flew one sortie for 3.4 hours; the 210th RQS HH-60 flew one sortie for 0.5 hours, and the BCV CAP ground team search for .5 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-04-A-050-S 12 APR 04 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near Big Delta. Fairbanks (FAI) CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which localized the ELT to an airstrip on Jack Warren Road. After the CAP aircraft made several low passes, the ELT signal ceased. FAI CAP flew one sortie for 2.5 hours. No credits awarded.

PAC-04-A-051-S 13 APR 04 (SAR) SEWARD CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT and aircraft reports of an ELT in the Tyonek area. Seward CAP (SWD CAP) was tasked and diverted a search aircraft from a training flight, which localized the ELT signal to the Beluga airstrip. A Chugach Power Station ground team located the non-distress ELT in a parked aircraft, and secured it. SWD CAP flew one sortie for 3.4 hours. No credits awarded.

PAC-04-A-053-S 14 APR 04 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near lake Minchumina. Fairbanks (FAI) CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, however the aircrew was unable to pick up any ELT signals. The ELT subsequently ceased, and 11RCC received three SARSAT missed passes. FAI CAP flew one sortie for 3.9 hours. No credits awarded.

PAC-04-A-054-S 15 APR 04 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near Palmer. Anchorage CAP (ANC CAP) was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, however the aircrew was unable to pick up any ELT signals. The ELT subsequently ceased and 11RCC received three SARSAT missed passes. ANC CAP flew one sortie for 1.5 hours. No credits awarded.

PAC-04-A-055-S 17 APR 04 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near Anchorage (ANC). ANC CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team, which located the non-distress ELT in a parked aircraft at Lake Hood. The aircraft’s owner was notified who then secured the ELT. The ANC CAP ground team searched for 0.5 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-04-A-056-S 21 APR 04 (SAR) ELMENDORF CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near Anchorage. Elmendorf (EDF) CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which located the non-distress ELT in a parked aircraft at Lake Hood. The ELT was secured and three SARSAT missed passed were received. EDF CAP flew two sorties for 2.2 hours. No credits awarded.

PAC-04-A-058-S 22 APR 04 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP & VALDEZ CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near Valdez. Anchorage (ANC) CAP and Valdez (VDZ) CAP were tasked and responded with a search aircraft and a ground search team, respectfully. The ANC CAP aircraft had to return to base due to WX and were unable to search. The VDZ CAP ground team located the non-distress ELT in a hanger and secured it. The VDZ CAP ground team searched for 0.5 hours and claimed no expenses. ANC CAP flew one sortie for 3.7 hours. No credits awarded.

PAC-04-A-062-S 28 APR 04 (SAR) BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near Palmer. Birchwood (BCV) CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team, however they were unable to pick up any ELT signals. The ELT subsequently ceased transmissions. The BCV CAP ground team searched for 3.5 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.
