PAC-03-A-091-S 01 MAY 03 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP & 210TH RQS DET-1
Mission opened in response to SARSAT and pilot reports of an ELT in the vicinity of Fairbanks. Det-1, 210th RQS was tasked and responded with an HH-60 helicopter, which localized the ELT airfield at Chena Marina. Fairbanks (FAI) CAP was then tasked and launched a ground search team and located the non-distress ELT in a parked aircraft and secured it. The FAI CAP ground team searched for 3.0 hours and claimed no expenses. The 210th RQS Det-1 HH-60 flew one sortie for 0.4 hours. No credits awarded.
PAC-03-A-092-S 01 MAY 03 (SAR) BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT 20 miles north of Birchwood (BCV) airport. BCV CAP responded with a search aircraft and localized the source of the signal to a private airstrip near Anderson Lake, but was unable to land. BCV CAP then deployed a ground team, which confirmed that the source of the signal was from an old ELT in a cabin at Anderson Lake (non-distress). The owner secured the ELT and three SARSAT missed passes were received. BCV CAP flew one sortie for 1.4 hours and their ground team searched for 1.5 hrs and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-03-A-093-A 02 MAY 03 (ASSIST) KOTZEBUE CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the AK State Troopers, to search for an overdue snowmobiler near Selawik. Kotzebue (OTZ) CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which searched the objective area with negative results. The overdue snowmobiler was subsequently located by a civilian ground party, and was assisted to safety. OTZ CAP flew two sorties for 4.4 hours. One assist awarded.
PAC-03-A-094-A 03 MAY 03 (ASSIST) KOTZEBUE CAP
Mission opened in response to mission 2003-0093 being closed prematurely due to misinformation passed to RCC. AK State Troopers originally requested Kotzebue (OTZ) CAP to search for an overdue hunter on a snowmachine from Selawik. OTZ CAP again responded with a search aircraft and located both the overdue snowmobiler and the ground team that found him previously at a cabin on Choris Peninsula. The ground team assisted in repairing his snowmachine. The OTZ CAP aircraft escorted/guided the three snowmobiles to Selawik Lake, where they were able to make their way back to Selawik. OTZ CAP flew two sorties for 3.1 hours. No credits awarded.
PAC-03-A-095-S 03 MAY 03 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT and FAA reports of an ELT in Fairbanks. Fairbanks (FAI) CAP responded with a ground team, which located the non-distress ELT in a B-212 helicopter. The helicopter was parked at the AK Department of Forestry helo pad near the Fairbanks airport. FAI CAP searched for 2.5 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-03-A-096-A 04 MAY 03 (ASSIST) KOTZEBUE CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the AK State Troopers to search for an overdue snowmobiler traveling from Kiana to Kotzebue (OTZ). OTZ CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft. The overdue was subsequently located non-distress by a ground party, in the village of Noorvik. OTZ CAP flew two sorties for 1.6 hours. One located awarded.
PAC-03-A-098-A 05 MAY 03 (ASSIST) KOTZEBUE CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the AK State Troopers to search for a distressed person stranded on an ice floe at Kobuk Lake. Kotzebue (OTZ) CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which located the distressed individual and guided a ground team to his location. The ground team then assisted the individual to safety. OTZ CAP flew one sortie for 1.0 hours. One save awarded.

Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the AK State Troopers, to search for an overdue snowmobiler near Noorvik. Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near Wolf Lake. Birchwood CAP (BCV CAP) was tasked and responded with a ground team, which located the non-distress ELT on an aircraft parked at a residence west of Wolf Lake, and secured it. The BCV CAP ground team searched for 2.5 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-03-A-102-A 12 MAY 03 (ASSIST) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from Juneau (JNU) RCC (USCG D17) to search for a distressed vessel, which broadcasted a MAYDAY call in the Anchorage (ANC) area. ANC CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which searched the Turnagain and Knik Arm areas with negative results. Based on further transmissions, JNU RCC determined the MAYDAY broadcast to be a hoax and required no further assistance. ANC CAP flew one sortie for 2.2 hours. No credits awarded.

Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Fairbanks (FAI) area. FAI CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team, which located the non-distress ELT in a shed at the FAI Airport float pond. The FAI Airport Police were notified and contacted the owner, who secured the ELT. The FAI CAP ground search team searched for 3.0 hours and claimed $20.00 in expenses. No credits awarded.

Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Anchorage (ANC) area. ANC CAP was tasked and responded with a ground team, which located the non-distress ELT in a parked aircraft at Lake Hood strip. The owner was contacted and he secured the ELT. The ANC CAP ground team searched for 0.2 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.

Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT located 20 miles north of Homer. Kenai (ENA) CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which localized the ELT to a residential area near Kasilof. ENA CAP then sent a ground team to continue the search and located the ELT non-distress in a shed. The owner silenced the beacon and three SARSAT missed passes were received. ENA CAP flew one sortie for 1.5 hours, and their ground team searched for 1.0 hours and claimed $10.00 for expenses. No credits awarded.
PAC-03-A-106-S 16 MAY 03 (SAR) BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to aircraft and SARSAT reports of an ELT between Palmer and Wasilla. Birchwood (BCV) CAP was tasked and diverted a search aircraft on a training flight to investigate. The ELT signal ceased, while the BCV CAP aircraft was en route, and no signs of distress were detected. BCV CAP flew one sortie for 0.5 hrs. No credits awarded.
PAC-03-A-107-S 17 MAY 03 (SAR) BIRCHWOOD & KENAI CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near Kalgin Island. Birchwood (BCV) and Kenai (ENA) CAP were tasked and responded with a ground team and two search aircraft. The ELT was located in a crashed aircraft near the radio station in Kenai. The occupants of the aircraft had already departed the scene, and the CAP ground team silenced the ELT. ENA CAP flew one sortie for 1.3 hours, and their ground team searched for 3.0 hours and claimed no expenses. BCV CAP flew one sortie for 1.8 hours. No credits awarded.

AKN CAP was tasked and responded with a ground team, which located the non-distress ELT in a parked aircraft at the AKN Airport, and silenced it. PAC-03-A-111-A 23 MAY 03 (ASSIST) SEWARD CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the AK State Troopers (AST), to search for three overdue hikers near Caines Head Point. Seward (SWD) CAP was tasked, however prior to their aircraft’s departure, AST notified them that the overdue hikers had been located and assistance was no longer required. SWD CAP did not fly any sorties, and no credits were awarded.
PAC-03-A-112-S 24 MAY 03 (SAR) ELMENDORF CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Elmendorf (EDF) area. EDF CAP was tasked and responded with a ground team, which located the non-distress ELT in an F-15C at EDF AFB. F-15C life support silenced the ELT and three SARSAT missed passes were received. The EDF CAP ground team searched for 2.0 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-03-A-115-A 30 MAY 03 (ASSIST) VALDEZ CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the AK State Troopers, to search for an overdue person kayaking in Prince William Sound. Valdez (VDZ) CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which was unable to locate the missing kayaker. The kayaker was subsequently located deceased along the shoreline, and assistance was no longer required. VDZ CAP flew one sortie for 1.7 hours. One deceased awarded.
