PAC-03-A-021-A 01 FEB 03 (ASSIST) KOTZEBUE CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the AK State Troopers (AST) in Kotzebue, to search for an overdue snow machiner near Selawik. The missing snow machiner was lightly clothed, had limited fuel, and was not familiar with the local area. Kotzebue CAP was tasked and provided several search aircraft, which extensively searched the entire area, with negative results. Kotzebue AST suspended aerial search efforts, and released Kotzebue CAP from the mission. Kotzebue CAP flew 18 sorties for 28.1 hours. No credits awarded.

PAC-03-A-023-S 07 FEB 03 (SAR) BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near Birchwood. Birchwood CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team, which located the non-distress ELT in a hangar and secured it. The Birchwood CAP ground team searched for 1.5 hours, and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-03-A-027-A 09 FEB 03 (ASSIST) SEWARD CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the AK State Troopers (AST) in Seward, to search for an overdue kayaker in Resurection Bay. Seward CAP was tasked and flew an extensive search of the Resurection Bay shoreline, yeilding negative results. Civilian ground teams, several boat teams and an AST helicopter all were unable to locate any signs of the kayaker. With no new leads, Seward AST suspended the search effort and released Seward CAP from the mission. Seward CAP flew three sorties for 4.5 hours. One missing awarded.

PAC-03-A-028-S 10 FEB 03 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT and aircraft reports of an ELT in the Anchorage area. Anchorage CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team, which located the non-distress ELT in a parked aircraft at the Anchorage airport. The ELT was silenced and the mission was closed. The Anchorage CAP ground team searched for 0.5 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.

Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT in Bethel. Bethel CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team. The ground team located the ELT non-distress in a hangared aircraft and silenced it. The Bethel CAP ground team searched for 0.5 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-03-A-031-S 15 FEB 03 (SAR) BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Birchwood Airport area. Birchwood CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team. The ground team located and silenced the non-distress ELT in a hangared aircraft. The Birchwood CAP ground team searched for 0.5 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-03-A-033-S 15 FEB 03 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT and aircraft reports of an ELT near Fairbanks. Fairbanks CAP was tasked and responded with two ground search teams, which localized the non-distress ELT to a residence off of Chena Hot Springs Road. The CAP ground teams were unable to access the residence, however the ELT ceased with three SARSAT missed passes. The Fairbanks CAP ground teams searched for 5.0 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-03-A-034-S 16 FEB 03 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT located in the Anchorage area. Anchorage CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team. The CAP ground team terminated their search shortly after being tasked, when the ELT ceased and the RCC received three SARSAT missed passes. The Anchorage CAP ground team searched for 0.5 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-03-A-035-S 16 FEB 03 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT near Telida. Anchorage CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, however the ELT ceased while the CAP aircraft was en route. The CAP aircraft returned to base, and the mission was closed. Anchorage CAP flew one sortie for 0.8 hours. No credits awarded.

PAC-03-A-036-S 17 FEB 03 (SAR) BETHEL CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT and aircraft reports of an ELT near Bethel. Bethel CAP was holding a training meeting at the time of their tasking and responded with a ground search team. The ground team located the ELT non-distress in a parked aircraft, and had the aircraft’s owner silence it. The Bethel CAP ground team searched for 1.0 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-03-A-037-S 17 FEB 03 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to aircraft, SARSAT, and ground agency reports of an ELT in the Anchorage area. Anchorage CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team. The ground team located the ELT non-distress, in a parked aircraft at Merrill Field. The aircraft’s owner was notified and the ELT was silenced. The Anchorage CAP ground team searched for 1.0 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-03-A-038-S 17 FEB 03 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT 100 miles southwest of Fairbanks. Fairbanks CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, however it had to return to base due to electrical system problems. A second CAP search aircraft was launched, but was unable to locate the ELT. The ELT subsequently ceased, and the mission was closed. Fairbanks CAP flew two sorties for 3.0 hours. No credits awarded.

Mission opened in response to aircraft and SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Anchorage area. Anchorage CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search team. The CAP ground team located and silenced the non-distress in a parked aircraft at Anchorage Int`l Airport. The Anchorage CAP ground team searched for 3.5 hrs and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-03-A-042-S 26 FEB 03 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to SARSAT reports of an ELT in the Fairbanks area. Fairbanks CAP was tasked and responded with a ground search, which was unable to locate the ELT. The ELT subsequently ceased shortly after the search. The Fairbanks CAP ground team searched for 3.0 hours and claimed no expenses. No credits awarded.

PAC-03-A-043-A 26 FEB 03 (ASSIST) BETHEL CAP
Mission opened in response to a request for assistance from the AK State Troopers in Bethel, to search for an overdue snowmachiner from Aniak to Bethel. Bethel CAP was tasked and responded with a search aircraft, which located the overdue snowmachiner near a river. The CAP aircraft directed a ground team to the snowmachiner’s location, and the ground team transported him to Bethel. Bethel CAP flew three sorties for 5.0 hours. One save awarded.
