99-0377 14 Jan 00 (AST ASSIST) Bethel CAP / 2nd BN-207th INF / GP
Mission opened in response to a request from the Alaska State Troopers to assist in the search for 2 overdue snowmobilers in the area between Atmautluak and Bethel. The Bethel CAP and Army National Guard were tasked and launched assets to search. After an extensive search, one person was found deceased. AST continued the search with negative results. On 14 Jan, AST advised RCC that they were suspending the search. Bethel CAP flew 4 sorties for 6.9 hours. The Army National Guard ground teams searched for 4.0 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

00-0003 9 Jan 00 (SEARCH) Fairbanks CAP
Mission opened in response to a composite SARSAT report of an ELT signal in the Fairbanks. The Fairbanks CAP was tasked and responded with a ground team to search. The ELT was located, non-distress, in an aircraft parked at the Fairbanks Airport and silenced. Three missed passes were received. The Fairbanks CAP searched for 0.5 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

00-0004 10 Jan 00 (SEARCH) Eielson CAP
Mission opened in response to a composite SARSAT report of an ELT signal in the Fairbanks area. The Eielson CAP was tasked and responded with a ground team to search. The ELT was located, non-distress, in a Fairbanks residence and silenced. Three missed passes were received. The Eielson CAP searched for 1.0 hour. No saves or assists were awarded.

00-0005 10 Jan 00 (AST ASSIST) Kenai CAP
Mission opened in response to a request from the Alaska State Troopers to assist in the search for an overdue snowmobiler traveling in the area north of Homer. The Kenai CAP was tasked and launched an aircraft to search. The search aircraft was on scene when it learned that a civilian aircraft also involved in the search located the overdue snowmobiler. The Kenai CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.2 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

00-0007 15 Jan 00 (AST ASSIST) Kotzebue CAP
Mission opened in response to a request from the Alaska State Troopers to assist in the search for an overdue snowmobiler/hunter near Buckland. The Kotzebue CAP was tasked and launched an aircraft to search. The Kotzebue CAP located the overdue snowmobiler, out of fuel and lost, approximately 38 miles northeast of Buckland. The CAP guided ground search teams to the objective’s location. The Kotzebue CAP flew 2 sorties for 2.6 hours. 1 SAVE WAS AWARDED.

00-0008 19 Jan 00 (AST ASSIST) Kotzebue CAP
Mission opened in response to a request from the Alaska State Troopers to assist in the search for 2 overdue snowmobilers traveling fro Kotzebue to Kiana via Noorvick. The Kotzebue CAP was tasked and launched an aircraft to search. It was learned that the snowmobilers walked back to town. The Kotzebue CAP flew 1 sortie for 2.6 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

00-0009 19 Jan 00 (CSG ASSIST) Kodiak CAP
Mission opened in response to a request from the U.S. Coast Guard to assist in the search for an errant ELT in Kodiak. The Kodiak CAP was tasked and responded with a ground team to search. The ELT was located, non-distress, in a Supercub parked on an airfield and silenced. The Kodiak CAP searched for 40 minutes. No saves or assists were awarded.

00-0013 27 Jan 00 (SEARCH) 210 RQS / Fairbanks CAP
Mission opened in response to a composite SARST report of an ELT signal in Fairbanks. A high flier confirmed the SARSAT report. The 210th RQS was tasked and localized the signal to Chena Marina. At that time, Fairbanks CAP was tasked and responded with a ground team to complete the search. The ELT was located, non-distress, in a hangar at Chena Marina and silenced. Three missed passes were received. The 210th RQS flew 1 sortie for 1.0 hour. The Fairbanks CAP searched for 1.0 hour. No saves or assists were awarded.

00-0015 30 Jan 00 (SERCH) Eielson CAP
Mission opened in response to composite SARSAT report of an ELT signal at Eielson AFB. The Eielson CAP was tasked and responded with a ground team to search. The ELT was located, non-distress, in the Eielson CAP hangar and silenced. Three missed passes were received. The Eielson CAP searched for 0.3 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.
