99-0244 07 Sep 99 (SEARCH) 210th RQS/CAP/F&W/NPS
Mission opened in response to an ALNOT issued by Whitehorse FSS for an overdue aircraft. The overdue was on a flight plan from Merrill Field to Whitehorse. The pilot departed on 17 Aug 99 but was not reported overdue until the 18th. An extensive serach was conduted using resources from the AK ANG, CAP, F&W, and NPS. 279 sorties were flown for 467.2 hours covering 7200 square miles. No sign, electronic or visual, was found of the missing aircraft with one person on board. This mission was suspended pending the development of viable leads.
99-0265 01 Sep 99 (SEARCH) Seward CAP/Anchorage CAP/Elmendorf CAP/ Birchwood CAP/Kenai CAP/210th RQS/AST
Mission opened in response to an ALNOT issued by Kenai FSS for an overdue aircraft. The pilot opened a flight plan from Summit Lake to the Seward area and then on to Campbell Lake. The Seward, Anchorage, Elmendorf, Birchwood, and Kenai CAP units, the 210th RQS and the Alaska State Troopers were tasked and launched aircraft to search. The overdue aircraft was located near Quartz Creek, with no survivors. The ALNOT was cancelled. The CAP flew a total of 30 sorties for 55.7 hours. The 210th RQS flew 3 sorties for 10.1 hours. AST flew 2 sorties for 1.5 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

Shortly after launch, Flight Service informed the 68th MEDDET that a civilian aircraft had recovered the pilot. The Eielson CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.8 hours. The CAP pilot as well as Fish & Wildlife diverted to assist. The aircraft was located, crashed in the trees. A ground team was assembled and directed to the site. The Bethel CAP flew 4 sorties for 9.0 hours. The F&W flew 4 sorties for 8.5 hours. 3 SAVES were awarded.
