99-0310 01 Oct 99 (AST Assist) Kotzebue CAP
Mission opened in response to a request from the Alaska State Troopers to investigate a flare sighting west of Kobuk Lake. The Kotzebue CAP was tasked and launched an aircraft to investigate. They searched the area extensively but found no signs of distress. The Kotzebue CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.8 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

99-0316 05 Oct 99 (SEARCH) Fairbanks CAP
Mission opened in response to composite SARSAT reports and aircraft reports of an ELT signal in Fairbanks. The Fairbanks CAP was tasked and launched an aircraft to search. The ELT was located, non-distress, n an aircraft parked at Fairbanks International Airport and silenced. Three missed passes were received. The Fairbanks CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.0 hour. No saves or assists were awarded.

99-0318 10 Oct 99 (SEARCH) Birchwood CAP
Mission opened in response to a composite SARSAT report f an ELT signal near Palmer. The Birchwood CAP was tasked and launched an aircraft to search. They were able to localize the signal to Finger Lake but were unable to land and investigate. A ground team was dispatched to continue the search. The ELT was located, non-distress, in an aircraft on Finger Lake and silenced. Three missed passes were received. The Birchwood CAP flew 2 sortie for 0.9 hours and the ground team searched for 0.8 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

99-0319 11 Oct 99 (SEARCH) Kenai CAP
Mission opened in response to a composite SARSAT reports of an ELT signal in the Homer area. The Kenai CAP was tasked and launched an aircraft to search. The ELT was located, non-distress, in an aircraft parked at the Seldovia Airport and silenced. Three missed passes were received. The Kenai CAP flew 1 sortie for 2.1 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

Mission opened in response to a composite SARSAT report of an ELT signal in Girdwood. The Anchorage CAP was tasked and responded with a ground team to search. The ELT was located, non-distress, in an aircraft parked at the Alpine Air Hangar and silenced. Three missed passes were received. The Anchorage CAP searched for 2.0 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

99-0322 15 Oct 99 (SEARCH) Anchorage CAP/AK WING CAP
Mission opened in response to composite SARSAT and verbal reports of an ELT signal in Anchorage. The Anchorage and Alaska Wing CAP units were tasked and responded with ground teams to search. The ELT was located, non-distress, in an aircraft parked at Lake Hood and silenced. Three missed passes were received. The Anchorage CAP searched for 1.5 hours and the Alaska Wing CAP searched for 0.5 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

99-0323 20 Oct 99 (SEARCH) Fairbanks CAP/Eielson CAP
Mission opened in response to a composite SARSAT report of an ELT signal in Fairbanks. Both the Fairbanks and Eielson CAP units were tasked and deployed ground teams to search. The ELT was located, non-distress, in a Fairbanks residence and silenced. Three missed passes were received. The Fairbanks CAP searched for 6.5 hours and the Eielson CAP searched for 3.2 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

99-0324 19 Oct 99 (SEARCH) 210th RQS / Kenai CAP
Mission opened in response to composite SARSAT reports of an ELT signal near Kenai. The 210th RQS diverted an HC-130 from a training mission to search. They localized the ELT signal to a small airstrip south of Kenai. The Kenai CAP was then tasked and deployed a ground team to continue the search. The ELT was located, non-distress, in an aircraft parked at the small airport and silenced. Three missed passes were received. The 210th RQS flew 1 sortie for 0.1 hours. The Kenai CAP ground team searched for 0.5 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

99-0325 20 Oct 99 (SEARCH) Seward CAP
Mission opened in response to a composite SARSAT report of an ELT signal near Seward. The Seward CAP was tasked and deployed a ground team to search. The ELT was located, non-distress, in an aircraft parked at the Seward Airport and silenced. Three missed passes were received. The Seward CAP ground team searched for 0.2 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

99-0327 24 Oct 99 (SEARCH) Anchorage CAP
Mission opened in response to an ALNOT issued by Kenai FSS for an overdue aircraft. The pilot’s flightplan was a round trip from Anchorage to Homer. The Anchorage CAP was tasked to conduct ramp checks in Anchorage. The CAP and Anchorage Police Department were at the pilot’s residence checking if anyone was home when he drove up. The ALNOT was cancelled. The CAP searched for 1.5 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

99-0329 27 Oct 99 (SEARCH) Birchwood CAP
Mission opened in response to a composite SARSAT report of an ELT signal near Palmer. The Birchwood CAP was tasked and deployed a ground team to search. The ELT was located, non-distress, in an aircraft parked in a hangar near Wolf Lake and silenced. Three missed passes were received. The Birchwood CAP ground team searched for 2.0 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

99-0330 28 Oct 99 (OTHER) Bethel CAP
Mission opened in response to a report of a downed aircraft in the Bethel area. The Bethel CAP was tasked and deployed a ground team to investigate. They located the crash site 2.1 miles from the Bethel airport. Two survivors with minor injuries were assisted by the ground team who also silenced the ELT. The Bethel CAP searched for 2.3 hours. 2 ASSISTS WERE AWARDED.

99-0331 28 Oct 99 (SEARCH) Birchwood CAP
Mission opened in response the a composite SARSAT report of an ELT signal near Birchwood. The Birchwood CAP was tasked and deployed 2 ground teams to search. The ELT was located, non-distress, in an aircraft parked at the Big Lake Airfield and silenced. Three missed passes were received. The Birchwood CAP ground teams searched for a total of 3.0 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.
