Mission opened in response to composite SARSAT reports of an ELT signal in the Kenai area. The Kenai and Elmendorf CAP units, as well as the 210th RQS, were tasked and launched aircraft to search. The ELT was located, non-distress, in an aircraft parked on the Dan France Airstrip and silenced. Three missed passes wee received. The CAP units flew a total of 3 sorties for 2.2 hours. The 210th RQS flew 1 sortie for 1.2 hors. No saves or assists were awarded.

Mission opened in response to a composite SARSAT report of an ELT signal near Tok. The Tok CAP was tasked and deployed a ground team to search. The ELT was located, non-distress, in an aircraft parked at the Tok Lodge Airstrip and silenced. Three missed passes were received. The Tok CAP ground team searched for 0.3 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

Mission opened in response to a composite SARSAT report of an ELT signal near the mouth of Lake Clark Pass. The Kenai CAP was tasked but unable to search due to low weather. The 210th RQS was then tasked and launched a helicopter. The 210th RQS located a crashed aircraft with no survivors. The 210th RQS flew 1 sortie for 2.5 hours. The Kenai CAP did not fly. No saves or assists were awarded.

Mission opened in response to composite SARSAT reports of an ELT signal in the Nome area. The Nome CAP was tasked and deployed a ground team to search. The ELT was located, non-distress, in a praked aircraft and silenced. Three missed passes were received. The Nome CAP ground team searched for 0.5 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

99-0218 13 Aug 99 (AST Assist) Kotzebue CAP
Mission opened in response to a request from the Alaska State Troopers to assist in a search for an overdue boater. The overdue boater was last seen traveling with a six-member boating party on the Squirrel River. The Kotzebue CAP was tasked and launched aircraft to search. The AST located the overdue boater, deceased. The Kotzebue CAP flew 8 sorties for 10.6 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

99-0219 07 Aug 99 (SEARCH) Kenai CAP
Mission opened in response to composite SARSAT reports of an EPIRB signal in the Kenai area. The Kenai CAP was tasked and launched a ground team to search. During their search the signal ceased. They were unable to determine the source of the signal. Three missed passes were received. The Kenai CAP searched for 2.0 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

Mission opened in response to an ALNOT issued for 2 overdue aircraft by Fairbanks FSS. The flight plan was from Anchorage to Bettles , then to Wild Lake and Walter Lake, then back to Bettles. The Fairbanks CAP was tasked and launched an aircraft to search. The overdue aircraft was located, non-distress, at Walker Lake waiting for weather to clear. The ALNOT was cancelled. The Fairbanks CAP flew 1 sortie for 4.5 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

Mission opened in response to an ALNOT issued by Fairbanks FSS for an aircraft believed to be in Happy Valley. The Fairbanks CAP was tasked and launched search aircraft to assist the Alaska State Trooper helicopter already on scene. The Alaska State Troopers located the crash at the 4500 ft level of Cloud Mountain. There were no survivors. The ALNOT was cancelled. The Fairbanks CAP flew 4 sorties for 8.3 hours. The AST flew 4 sorties for 14.0 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

Mission opened in resposne to a request from the National Park Service and Alaska State Troopers to assist in the search for an overdue hiker in the Bettles area. The Fairbanks CAP was tasked and launched aircraft to search. The AST located the overdue hiker, non-distress. The Fairbanks CAP flew 2 sorties for 7.9 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

Mission opened in response to a composite SARSAT report of an ELT signal in the Sterling area. The Kenai CAP was tasked and launched an aircraft to search. They narrowed the search area and landed at the Alsworth Strip. After landing at the strip they realized it was located at the Sterling Strip across the river. A floatplane in the area went across the river and let al aircraft know that an ELT was transmitting. The ELT ceased and three missed passes were received. The Kenai CAP flew 1 sortie for 0.7 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

The search area was narrowed down to somewhere near the Palmer Fairgrounds. The Birchwood CAP sent out a ground team that located the ELT in the back of a car, non-distress, and silenced. Three missed passes were received. The Kenai CAP flew 1 sortie for 2.7 hours. The Birchwood CAP ground team searched for 0.5 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

A search aircraft had just completed a mission and was diverted to search. The Elmendorf CAP was also tasked and launched a search aircraft. They searched the area but did not puck up a signal nor see any signs of distress. Three missed passes were received. The CAP flew a total of 2 sorties for 3.9 hours. mission opened in response to a composite SARSAT report of an ELT signal southeast of Aniak. The Bethel CAP was tasked an launched an aircraft to search. The source of the ELT signal was an aircraft that seemed to have crashed into the trees. There were other aircraft in the area rendering assistance. After the CAP confirmed there were no injuries, they instructed the other aircraft to turn off the ELT. Three missed passes were received. The Bethel CAP flew 2 sorties for 4.6 hours. 2 Assists were awarded.

Mission opened in response to composite SARSAT reports of an ELT signal near Cape Puget. The Seward CAP was tasked an launched an aircraft to search. The source of the ELT signal was located. It was 2 hunters in need of assistance. The 210th RQS was then advised and launched a helo to pick up the survivors. Three missed passes were received. The Seward CAP flew 2 sorties for 3.0 hours. The 210th RQS flew 2 sorties for 2.3 hours. 2 Assists were awarded.

Mission opened in response to an ALNOT issued for an overdue aircraft by Fairbanks FSS. The pilot was flying from Fairbanks to Van Curlers Mine. The Fairbanks CAP was tasked an preparing to takeoff when RCC was notified that the overdue aircraft self-recovered, non-distress. The ALNOT was cancelled. The Fairbanks CAP did not fly this mission. Mission opened in response to a request by the Alaska State Troopers to assist in the search for an 8 year old boy who was lost near Exit Glacier. After two hours, the searching ground teams still had not located him. The Seward CAP was tasked and launched an aircraft to search the CAP located the child and directed ground teams to him. He was not hurt but ill prepared for an overnight experience. The Seward CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.1 hours. One Save was awarded.
