Mission opened in response to a composite ELT report in the Wasilla area. The Birchwood CAP launched a search aircraft and they located the ELT non-distress at Four Corners Airfield. Mission opened in response to a request by the Eielson AFB Security Police to assist in the search of two overdue active-duty hunters. The Eielson CAP launched on this mission and located the hunters in distress. The CAP directed the Security Police to the area of the overdue hunters. The Eielson CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.5 hours. 2 saves were awarded.

Mission opened in response to a composite ELT report in the Talkeetna area. The Polaris CAP responded and located the ELT in an aircraft on a lake east of Talkeetna, non-distress. The Polaris CAP flew 1 sortie for 2.8 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

Mission opened in response to a request from the Alaska State Troopers to assist in the search of 3 overdue boaters. The boat was traveling from Kotzebue to Buckland. The Kotzebue CAP responded and searched for 6 days. The overdue boaters were not located. The Alaska State Troopers no longer needed our assistance. The OTZ CAP flew 27 sorties for 35 hours. Three missing, no saves or assists were awarded.

Mission opened in response to a composite ELT report in the Livengood area. The Fairbanks CAP was tasked and they located the ELT in an aircraft parked at the North Pole Airport, non-distress. The FAI CAP flew 1 sortie for 2.4 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

Mission opened in response to a composite ELT report in the Homer area. The Homer CAP was tasked and responded with a ground team. The CAP located the EPIRB in the harbor on the vessel “Puffin Lady”, non-distress. The owner was contacted and the EPIRB was silenced. The Homer CAP searched for 1.7 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

Mission opened in response to a composite ELT report in the Fairbanks area. The 210th responded and narrowed down the search to the Fairbanks International Airport. Then the Fairbanks CAP tasked to conduct a ground search and they located the ELT at the airport I a parked aircraft, non-distress. The FAI CAP ground team searched for 0.5 hours and the 210th RQS flew 1 sortie for 1.2 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.
98-0357 08 October 98 (Search) Polaris CAP/Birchwood CAP
Mission opened in response to a composite ELT report in the Palmer/Wasilla area. The Polaris CAP responded and launched a search aircraft and narrowed down the search area to the Palmer Airport. The Alaska State Troopers began the ground search, but were unable to locate the ELT without the proper equipment. The Birchwood CAP responded with a ground team and the equipment and along with AST they located the ELT at the Palmer Airport in the back of a truck. The Polaris CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.8 hours, the Birchwood CAP ground team searched for 1.5 hours and the AST searched for 1.5 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.
