Mission opened in response to a request by the Alaska State Troopers to assist in the search of an overdue boater on the Kuskokwim River. The Bethel CAP and Bethel Army National Guard responded. After several days of searching, the troopers released the crews and continued to search with private ground teams. The Bethel CAP flew 6 sorties for 8.2 hours and AASF-Bethel flew 1 sortie for 1.6 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

Mission opened in response to a composite ELT report in the Birchwood area. The Arcturus CAP was already airborne and diverted for this mission. During the search the ELT ceased and three missed passes were received. The Arcturus CAP flew 2 sorties for 1.3 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

The ELT was secured and three missed passes were received. The Bethel CAP ground team searched for 5 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

The ELT was secured and three missed passes were received. The Polaris CAP searched for 1.0 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

Mission opened in response to a composite ELT report in the Homer area. The Homer CAP was tasked and responded with a ground team. The CAP located the ELT in a hanger at the Homer Airport. The Homer CAP searched for .5 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.
98-0386 12 November 98 (Search) Polaris CAP/210th RQS/Kenai CAP
Mission opened in response to a composite ELT report in the Wasilla area. The Polaris CAP responded and diverted an aircraft. They contacted a downed aircraft but he was unable to transmit. The 210th responded and searched extensively but due to thick fog they were unable to locate the downed aircraft. The following day, the Kenai CAP and the 210th RQS launched. The downed aircraft was located by a civilian aircraft. The 210th RQS picked up the ambulatory pilot and transported him to the Central Peninsula Hospital. The Polaris CAP flew 1 sortie for 2.4 hours, the Kenai CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.6 hours and the 210th RQS flew 2 sorties for 4.4 hours. One save was awarded.

Mission opened in response to a request by the Alaska State Troopers to assist in the search of an overdue snowmobiler. The Kotzebue CAP responded and searched but did not locate the overdue. The Alaska State Troopers no longer needed our assistance and the mission was closed. The OTZ CAP blew 5 sorties for 10.9 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

Mission opened in response to a request from the Alaska State Troopers to assist in the search of 2 overdue snowmobilers. The Kotzebue CAP responded and located the overdue’s. The CAP directed a ground team to their location. The OTZ CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.8 hours. Two saves were awarded.

The ELT was secured and three missed passes were received. The Polaris CAP ground team searched for 1.5 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.

Mission opened in response to a composite ELT report in the Palmer area. The Birchwood CAP launched a ground team and a search aircraft. They located the ELT non-distress at a private airstrip. The over was contacted and secured the ELT. Apparently his grandchildren accidentally set off the ELT. The Birchwood CAP flew 1 sortie for 2.1 hours and the ground team searched for 3.0 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.
98-0392 29 November 98 (AST Assist) Fairbanks CAP
Mission opened in response to a request by the Alaska State Troopers to assist in the search of a missing woman. The Fairbanks CAP responded and searched but found no signs of the missing woman. The Troopers no longer needed assistance and the mission was closed. The FAI CAP flew 4 sorties for 11.9 hours. No saves or assists were awarded.
