PAC-98-A-0001-S 01 JANUARY 98 (AST ASSIST) KOTZEBUE CAP
Mission opened in response to a request by the Alaska State Troopers to search for two overdue snowmobilers last seen traveling from Noorvik to Kotzebue. The Kotzebue CAP located an abandoned snowmachine and determined the direction of the overdue’s and sent a ground team to locate them. The overdues were transported to Noorvik by the ground team. The Kotzebue CAP flew 3 sorties for 5.8 hours. 2 SAVES WERE AWARDED.

PAC-98-A-0002-S 01 JANUARY 98 (AST ASSIST) BETHEL CAP
Mission opened in response to a request by the Alaska State Troopers to search for two overdue snowmobilers last seen traveling from Chevak to Scammon Bay. The Bethel CAP was tasked but was unable to fly to due weather. The overdue’s were located by a ground team. No sorties were flown. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

PAC-98-A-0003-S 03 JANUARY 98 (SEARCH) POLARIS CAP
Mission opened in response to a report by Anchorage Center that an ELT was being transmitted near Anchorage International Airport. The Polaris CAP ground team located the aircraft and also the owner who turned it off. The Polaris CAP ground team searched for .5 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

PAC-98-A-0004-S 03 JANUARY 98 (AST ASSIST) KOTZEBUE CAP
Mission opened in response to a request by the Alaska State Troopers to search for an overdue snowmobiler last seen traveling from Kotzebue to Buckland. The Kotzebue CAP was tasked and located the overdue. They directed a ground team to his location and he was escorted to safety. The Kotzebue CAP flew 1 sortie for 3.0 hours. 1 SAVE WAS AWARDED.

PAC-98-A-0005-S 03 JANUARY 98 (AST ASSIST) KOTZEBUE CAP
Mission opened in response to a request by the Alaska State Troopers to search for an overdue snowmobiler last seen traveling to Buckland. The Kotzebue CAP was tasked and located the overdue. They directed an Alaska State Trooper aircraft to the overdue and he was taken to Kotzebue. The Kotzebue CAP flew 3 sorties for 3.5 hours. 1 SAVE WAS AWARDED.

PAC-98-A-0006-S 06 JANUARY 98 (SEARCH) POLARIS CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT report in the Anchorage area. The Polaris CAP ground team located the ELT in a C-207 parked at Anchorage International Airport. The Polaris CAP ground team searched for 1.0 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

PAC-98-A-0007-S 08 JANUARY 98 (SEARCH) POLARIS CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT report in the Anchorage area. The Polaris CAP cadet ground team searched for the ELT but it ceased and they were unable to pick up a signal. They searched for 5.2 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

PAC-98-A-0008-S 08 JANUARY 98 (AST ASSIST) KOTZEBUE CAP
Mission opened in response to a request by the Alaska State Troopers to search for an overdue snowmobiler last seen traveling from Kotzebue to Selawik. The Kotzebue CAP was tasked, however, while they were en route to the search area, the overdue self-recovered. The Kotzebue CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.1 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

PAC-98-A-0012-S 15 JANUARY 98 (AST ASSIST) KOTZEBUE CAP/NOME CAP
Mission opened in response to a request by the Alaska State Troopers to search for an overdue snowmobiler near Bar Mountain, 28 miles south of Shishmaref. Before either asset launched, the over overdue was located by a ground team and transported to safety. No sorties were flown. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

PAC-98-A-0013-S 17 JANUARY 98 (SAERCH) POLARIS CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT report in the Anchorage area. The Polaris CAP responded with a ground team but before they arrived, the Merrill Tower located the ELT and silenced it. The Polaris CAP searched for .3 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

PAC-98-A-0014-S 18 JANUARY 98 (SEARCH) POLARIS CAP
Mission opened in response to several ELT reports in the Anchorage area. The Polaris CAP responded with a ground team and located the ELT at Elmendorf Air Force Base on a C-141. The ELT was silenced and three missed passes were received. The Polaris CAP ground team searched for 3.0 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

PAC-98-A-0015-S 22 JANUARY 98 (AST ASSIST) KOTZEBUE CAP
Mission opened in response to a request by the Alaska State Troopers to search for two overdue snowmobilers last seen traveling from Kotzebue to Deering. The Kotzebue CAP located the overdues and directed a ground team to their location. The ground team escorted them back to Deering. The Kotzebue CAP flew 1 sortie for 3.1 hours. 2 SAVES WERE AWARDED.

PAC-98-A-0018-S 30 JANUARY 98 (SEARCH) KENAI CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT report in the Soldotna area. The Kenai CAP diverted from a training mission to search for this ELT. The ELT was located by a member of the Soldotna Emergency Services and silenced. The ELT was in a parked aircraft at the Soldotna airport. The Kenai CAP flew 1 sortie for 0.2 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.
