PAC-97-A-340-S 01 NOVEMBER 97 (SAR) POLARIS CAP
Mission opened in response to an overdue aircraft notice issued by Kenai FSS. The Polaris CAP located the aircraft at the Lake Hood Strip, non-distress. The Polaris CAP ground team searched for .5 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.
PAC-97-A-341-S 02 NOVEMBER 97 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP/283RD MEDCO
Mission opened in response to an ELT report near Cantwell. The Fairbanks CAP and the 283rd MEDCO searched for this ELT and were unable to hear or locate it. Three missed passes were received and the mission was closed. The Fairbanks CAP flew 1 sortie for 2.3 hours and the 283rd MEDCO flew 1 sortie for 4.1 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.
PAC-97-A-342-S 02 NOVEMBER 97 (SAR) POLARIS CAP/BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT report near Palmer. The Polaris CAP and the Birchwood CAP searched and located the ELT in an aircraft parked at a private strip outside of Palmer, non-distress. Polaris CAP ground team searched for 4.0 hours and the Birchwood CAP flew 1 sortie for .5 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.
PAC-97-A-344-S 03 NOVEMBER 97 (SAR) EIELSON CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT report in the Fairbanks area. The Eielson CAP located the ELT at a residence, non-distress. Eielson CAP ground team searched for 2.0 hours and the Eielson CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.0 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.
PAC-97-A-345-S 05 NOVEMBER 97 (AST ASSIST) KOTZEBUE CAP
Mission opened in response to a request by the Alaska State Troopers to search for an overdue snowmobile. The Kotzebue CAP pinpointed the overdue and assisted a ground team from Buckland SAR to him. The Kotzebue CAP flew 3 sorties for 4.1 hours. One ASSIST was awarded.
PAC-97-A-346-S 05 NOVEMBER 97 (SAR) KENAI CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT report near Kenai. This ELT moved into the USCG area. The Kenai CAP and the USCG searched for this ELT. The USCG located the ELT at the Kasilof Airstrip and secured it. The Kenai CAP flew 1 sortie for 0.6 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.
PAC-97-A-348-S 08 NOVEMBER 97 (AST ASSIST) KENAI CAP
Mission opened in response to a request by the Alaska State Troopers to search for an over local citizen. The Kenai CAP searched the area of Kenai beach and the surrounding area near the individual’s home. The search produced no results. The Kenai CAP ground team searched for 4.1 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.
PAC-97-A-349-S 08 NOVEMBER 97 (SAR) POLARIS CAP/SEWARD CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT report in the Seward area. The ELT ceased and three missed passes were received. The Seward CAP ground team searched for 0.5 hour and flew 1 sortie for .5 hours. The Polaris CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.3 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.
PAC-97-A-350-S 10 NOVEMBER 97 (SAR) 210th RQS/SEWARD CAP
Mission opened in response to several ELT reports in the Seward area. The ELT ceased and three missed passes were received. The Seward CAP ground team searched for 08 hours and the 210th RQS flew 1 sortie for 1.3 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.
PAC-97-A-353-S 18 NOVEMBER 97 (AST ASSIST) 210TH RQS/KENAI CAP
Mission opened in response to a request by the Alaska State Troopers to search for an overdue motorist. The overdue was located by a civilian helo, deceased. Kenai CAP flew 1 sortie for 3.0 hours and the 210th RQS flew 1 sortie for 1.7 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.
PAC-97-A-355-S 26 NOVEMBER 97 (SAR) BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT report in the Anderson Lake area. The Birchwood CAP conducted a ground search and located the ELT on a Fairchild F-29 in a hangar at Anderson Lake. The Birchwood CAP ground team searched for 2.0 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.
PAC-97-A-356-S 27 NOVEMBER 97 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT report near Fairbanks International Airport. The Fairbanks CAP conducted a ground search and located the ELT on an aircraft at the airport, non-distress. The ELT was silenced and three missed passes were received. The Fairbanks CAP ground team searched for .3 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.
PAC-97-A-357-S 27 NOVEMBER 97 (AST ASSIST) BETHEL CAP
Mission opened in response to a request by the Alaska State Troopers to search for an overdue snowmobiler. The overdue was traveling from Kalksag to Russian Mission. The overdue was located by a civilian volunteer aircraft and then recovered by a ground team. The Bethel CAP flew 10 sorties for 12.5 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.
PAC-97-A-360-S 29 NOVEMBER 97 (AST ASSIST) BETHEL CAP
Mission opened in response to a request by the Alaska State Troopers to search for three overdue hunters. The Bethel CAP launched an aircraft but the hunters self-recovered. The Bethel CAP flew 2 sorties for 2.4 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.
