MSN 140 2 Jun 97 (AST ASSIST) KOTZEBUE CAP
Mission opened in response to an AST request to search for an overdue boater in the Kotzebue area. Kotzebue CAP launched an aircraft to conduct a search and while searching, the overdue individuals self-recovered. Kotzebue CAP flew 2 sorties for 1.3 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

MSN 141 2 Jun 97 (AST ASSIST) BETHEL CAP
Mission opened in response to an AST request to search for an overdue boater in the Bethel area. Bethel CAP was tasked to respond; however, the overdue boaters were located prior to launching an asset. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

MSN 143 3 Jun 97 (SAR) POLARIS CAP and ELMENDORF CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the Anchorage area. Polaris CAP conducted an aerial search and located the signal at Six Mile Lake. A ground team from Elmendorf CAP was sent to silence the signal. Shortly after sending a ground team, the ELT signal ceased. Polaris CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.5 hours. Elmendorf CAP searched for 0.4 hours and claimed no expenses. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

MSN 145 6 Jun 97 (USCG ASSIST) JUNEAU CAP
Mission opened in response to a USCG request to search for an ELT in the Juneau area. Juneau CAP launched an aircraft to conduct a search and located the ELT in the Juneau Harbor. Juneau CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.1 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

MSN 146 6 Jun 97 (SAR) GULKANA CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the Glennallen area. Gulkana CAP launched an aircraft to conduct a search and located the ELT at Crosswind Lake. Gulkana CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.1 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

MSN 147 7 Jun 97 (SAR) POLARIS CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the Anchorage area. Polaris CAP sent a ground team to conduct a search and located the ELT in an aircraft at Lake Hood. Polaris CAP searched for 1.0 hour and claimed no expenses. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

MSN 148 8 Jun 97 (SAR) EIELSON CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the FAIRBANKS area. Eielson CAP sent a ground team to conduct a search and located the ELT in a helicopter at Chena Hot Springs. Eielson CAP searched for 2.5 hours and claimed no expenses. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

MSN 149 10 Jun 97 (AST ASSIST) BETHEL CAP
Mission opened in response to an AST request to search for an overdue boat in Goodnews Bay. Bethel Cap launched an aircraft and located the boater who was confirmed to be non-distress. Bethel CAP flew 2 sorties for 2.0 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

MSN 150 11 Jun 97 (SAR) KENAI CAP and POLARIS CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT north of the Kenai area. Kenai CAP launched an aircraft and narrowed the signal down to the Anchorage International Airport. Polaris CAP sent a ground team to conduct a search and located the ELT in an aircraft at Lake Hood. Kenai CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.7 hours. Polaris CAP searched for 1.0 hour and claimed no expenses. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

MSN 151 12 Jun 97 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP and EIELSON CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the Fairbanks area. Fairbanks CAP launched an aircraft and tracked the signal to Hardy Lake. Eielson CAP sent out a ground team and shut off the ELT. Fairbanks CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.2 hours. Eielson CAP searched for 1.2 hours and claimed no expenses. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

MSN 152 12 Jun 97 (SAR) KENAI CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the Kenai area. Kenai CAP sent a ground team to conduct a search and located the ELT in a private residence south of Kenai. Kenai CAP searched for 4.0 hours and claimed no expenses. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

MSN 153 12 Jun 97 (SAR) BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the Palmer area. Birchwood CAP launched an aircraft and located the ELT in a parked aircraft at Nugget Aviation. Birchwood CAP flew 1 sortie for 0.8 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

MSN 154 13 Jun 97 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT 120nm NNW of Fairbanks. Fairbanks CAP launched an aircraft and found no signs of distress. RCC received three missed passes and the search aircraft returned to Fairbanks. Fairbanks CAP flew 2 sorties for 2.9 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

MSN 156 19 Jun 97 (SAR) POLARIS CAP and 210 RQS
Mission opened in response to an overdue aircraft en route between Lake Hood and King Salmon. 210th RQS was tasked and located and recovered the two individuals to Alaska Regional Hospital. 210th RQS flew 3 sorties for 6.9 hours. Polaris CAP flew 1 sortie for 0.6 hours. TWO SAVES awarded.

MSN 158 19 Jun 97 (SAR) POLARIS CAP and USCG
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the Whittier area. Polaris CAP and USCG aircraft were tasked to conduct a search and while searching, the USCG aircraft located the ELT on a boat near Port Wells, non-distress. Polaris CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.0 hour. USCG flew 1 sortie for 1.6 hors. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

MSN 159 21 Jun 97 (SAR) POLARIS CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the Anchorage area. Polaris CAP launched an aircraft and located the ELT in a Maule M5 at Birchwood airport. Polaris CAP flew 2 sorties for 0.8 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

MSN 160 22 Jun 97 (SAR) POLARIS CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the Anchorage area. Polaris CAP sent a ground team to conduct a search and located the ELT in an aircraft at Alaska Air Academy. Polaris searched for 0.3 hours and claimed no expenses. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

MSN 161 23 Jun 97 (SAR) POLARIS CAP and BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to an overdue aircraft reported by the FAA. Birchwood CAP and Polaris CAP launched aircraft and located the overdue aircraft at Fire Lake, non-distress. Polaris CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.5 hours. Birchwood CAP flew 1 sortie for 0.4 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

Mission opened in response to a request from USCG to search for an aircraft. Juneau CAP launched an aircraft and located the overdue floatplane in a nearby pond, non-distress. Juneau CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.8 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

MSN 163 24 Jun 97 (USCG ASSIST) KODIAK CAP
Mission opened in response to a request from USCG to search for an ELT in the Kodiak area. Kodiak CAP sent out a ground team and located the ELT in the backseat of a truck, non-distress. Kodiak CAP searched for 0.3 hours and claimed no expenses. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

MSN 166 28 Jun 97 (AST ASSIST) KOTZEBUE CAP
Mission opened in response to an AST request to locate an overdue boater between Shishmaref and Wales. Kotzebue CAP was unable to locate the boater, however the boater self-recovered. Kotzebue CAP flew 2 sorties for 4.8 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded for this mission.
