MSN 359 1 Oct 96 (SAR) BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the Birchwood area. Birchwood CAP searched the Birchwood airport and located the ELT in a private hangar. Birchwood CAP searched 6 hours and claimed no expenses. No SAVSE or ASSISTS were awarded for this NON-DISTRESS mission.

MSN 360 1 Oct 96 (SAR) KENAI CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the Kenai area. Kenai CAP conducted a search and was unable to locate the source of the signal. The signal ceased and RCC received 3 missed passes. Kenai CAP searched for 0.8 hours and claimed no expenses. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded for this NON-DISTRESS mission.

MSN 363 4 Oct 96 (AST ASSIST) BETHEL CAP
Mission opened in response to a request from AST to search for an overdue boater near Eek, AK. The Bethel CAP conducted a search and while searching, the village VPSO located the overdue boater. Bethel CAP flew 2 sorties for 5.5 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded for this NON-DISTRESS mission.

MSN 364 5 Oct 96 (AST ASSIST) BETHEL CAP
Mission opened in response to a request from AST to search for an overdue boater near Kwethluk. Bethel CAP launched an aircraft and located the boaters, non-distress. Bethel CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.1 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded for this NON-DISTRESS mission.

MSN 367 6 Oct 96 (USCG ASSIST) KOTZEBUE CAP
Mission opened in response to an overdue boater in the Shismaref area. Kotzebue CAP launched an aircraft and located the boater 22 miles down the coast from Shismaref. The boat was non-distress and awaiting better weather. Kotzebue CAP flew 6 sorties for 7.8 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded for this NON-DISTRESS mission.

MSN 368 7 Oct 96 (AST ASSIST) KENAI CAP
Mission opened in response to a report of an overdue aircraft between Campbell Airstrip and Pt. Possession. Kenai CAP was tasked and quickly located the overdue, non-distress. Kenai CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.0 hour. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded for this NON-DISTRESS mission.

MSN 369 8 Oct 96 (AST ASSIST) GULKANA CAP
Mission opened in response to a request from AST to help locate an overdue hiker. Gulkana CAP was tasked to fly but was unable to locate the hiker. The hiker, however, was later located by the Tok AST. Gulkana CAP flew 2 sorties for 2.3 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded for this NON-DISTRESS mission.

MSN 372 9 Oct 96 (SAR) KENAI CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the Kenai area. Kenai CAP searched the area and were unable to pick up an audible signal The ELT ceased and the RCC closed the mission. Kenai CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.0 hour. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded for this NON-DISTRESS mission.

MSN 373 13 Oct 96 (AST ASSIST) BETHEL CAP and USCG
Mission opened in response to a request from AST to locate an overdue boat. USCG and Bethel CAP conducted a thorough search of the area and located debris from the boat, however, the boater was never found. AST suspended the mission and required no further assistance. Bethel CAP flew 1 sortie for 5.1 hours. USCG flew 2 sorties for 16.7 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded for this NON-DISTRESS mission.

MSN 374 14 Oct 96 (SAR) NOME CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the NOME area. Nome CAP searched the area and located the ELT in an apartment non-distress. Nome CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.8 hours and a ground team searched for 3.0 hours and claimed no expenses. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded for this NON-DISTRESS mission.

MSN 380 18 Oct 96 (SAR) EIELSON CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the Fairbanks area. The Eielson CAP launched an aircraft and while searching, the ELT ceased. Eielson CAP flew 1 sortie for 2.1 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS awarded.

MSN 381 18 Oct 96 (SAR) 210th RQS and KENAI CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the Tutumena Lake area. The 210th RQS and Kenai Cap were tasked to conduct a search. The ELT ceased prior to the search teams locating the source. Kenai CAP flew 1 sortie for 0.7 hours. Kenai CAP ground team searched for 1.4 hours and claimed no expenses. 210th RQS flew 1 sortie for 0.7 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS awarded.

MSN 382 20 Oct 96 (SAR) KENAI CAP and VALDEZ CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the Soldotna area. Valdez and Kenai CAP were tasked to conduct a search. The ELT was located in a private residence and had been activated by the owner’s grandchildren. Kenai CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.9 hours. Valdez CAP flew 1 sortie for 0.5 hours. Kenai ground team searched for 4.0 hours and claimed no expenses. No SAVES or ASSISTS awarded.

MSN 383 20 Oct 96 (AST ASSIST) BETHEL CAP
Mission opened in response to a request from AST to search for an overdue snowmobiler. The Bethel CAP was tasked to respond, however, the overdue snowmobiler was located prior to launching asset. No SAVES or ASSISTS awarded.

MSN 385 22 Oct 96 (SAR) POLARIS CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the Anchorage area. A Polaris CAP aircraft conducted a search, but were unable to locate the source of the signal. Polaris CAP then sent out a ground team which located the signal at Anchorage International Airport. Polaris CAP flew 1 sortie for 1.8 hours. Polaris CAP ground team searched for 1.0 hour and claimed no expenses. No SAVES or ASSISTS were awarded.

MSN 388 28 Oct 96 (SAR) BIRCHWOOD CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the Palmer area. Birchwood CAP was tasked to conduct a search and located the ELT near Motherlode Lodge. A skier silenced the signal. Birchwood CAP flew 1 sortie for 2.2 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS awarded.

MSN 389 30 Oct 96 (SAR) FAIRBANKS CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the Fairbanks area. The Fairbanks CAP was tasked to conduct a search and located the ELT in a private residence. The Fairbanks CAP searched for 1.5 hours and claimed no expenses. No SAVES or ASSISTS awarded.

MSN 391 30 Oct 96 (AST ASSIST) KOTZEBUE CAP
Mission opened in response to a request from AST to search for an overdue snowmobiler. The Kotzebue CAP was tasked to conduct a search, however, prior to launching an asset, the overdue snowmobiler self-recovered. No SAVES or ASSISTS awarded.
