MSN 413 01 Dec 96 (SAR) BETHEL CAP/AAOF #2
Mission opened in response to an ELT 24nm southwest of Russian Mission. Bethel CAP launched 2 aircraft to locate the source of the ELT signal. Bethel CAP located a downed aircraft and were unable to land. AAOF #2 was notified and launched a UH-1 which discovered 2 deceased people onboard the aircraft. Bethel CAP flew 3 sorties for 5.8 hours. AAOF #2 flew 1 sortie for 1.8 hours. TWO DECEASED.
MSN 417 09 Dec 96 (SAR) POLARIS CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the Anchorage area. Polaris Cap was tasked to respond and located the ELT on Merrill Field. Polaris ground team searched for 0.3 hour and claimed no expenses. No SAVES or ASSISTS awarded.
MSN 418 10 Dec 96 (SAR) ANCHORAGE CAP
Mission opened in response to an ELT in the Anchorage area. The Anchorage CAP was tasked to respond and located the ELT on Elmendorf AFB. The Anchorage CAP searched for 4.0 hours and claimed no expenses. No SAVES or ASSISTS awarded.
MSN 419 13 Dec 96 (AST ASSIST) BETHEL CAP
Mission opened in response to an AST request for two overdue snowmobilers in the area of Russian Mission. The Bethel CAP launched an aircraft which located the survivors and directed a ground team to their location. Bethel CAP flew 3 sorties for 1.6 hours. TWO ASSISTS awarded.
MSN 422 17 Dec 96 (AST ASSIST) POLARIS CAP
Mission opened in response to a request from the AST to assist in locating 4 overdue snowmobilers in the Hatcher’s Pass area. Polaris CAP was tasked to respond and while searching, AST advised that the snowmobilers were located non-distress and that no further assistance was required. Polaris CAP flew 2 sorties for 1.8 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS awarded.
MSN 423 28 Dec 96 (AST ASSIST) BETHEL CAP
Mission opened in response to a request from the AST to assist in locating an overdue snowmobiler between Anvik and Grayling. RCC requested Bethel CAP to conduct an aerial search. While searching, the overdue individual was located by a non-CAP ground team. Bethel CAP flew 3 sorties for 3.3 hours. No SAVES or ASSISTS awarded.
